Marcus Thomas will not be charged
What I expected, but good news nonetheless. One more thing that the team can put behind them before camp.

Reading more...
Readers might note that MattR has two links to read in his story. One is to click the title, and the word “here” at the end.
It’s good to know that Thomas chose not to drive because he thought he was inebriated. It’s also good to note that the Broncos stood by Thomas as soon as it was clear that the driver of the vehicle admitted that the drugs/gun where his and not Thomas’.
BUT, I’m not at all happy that Thomas chose to get drunk and to go be at a “party” where the focus was drinking and hanging around stupid people. Once you become an adult, and when you have the priviledge of making millions of dollars to play a professional sport, you need to start making some mature choices. Thomas remains guilty of being stupid. I hope all of his “prayers” lead him to not only being thankful, but reconsidering his poor decision making skills.

Wake up Call?
Well, young ppl make mistakes, hopefully this won’t turn into one of many “wakeup calls” for Thomas. He is a great talent and could be a huge contributor to our team if he is focused and dedicated. I’ll give him a mulligan this time as it was determined that no charges were necessary. Maybe this will teach him to be more careful in the future who he hangs around with. We need him to be the stud he was supposed to be when we drafted him. You know, everybody was hollerin that we waited so long for a DT in the draft, mebbe between Thomas, Robertson, and Powell, we will be strong in the middle this year. It wouldn’t surprise me if we were. Then again, as young as we are up front, it’s hard tellin what we will be up there. As a diehard Broncofan, I will choose to be the eternal optomist and say we are going to be formidable on both sides of the ball. LOL, I will assume we will be competitive at a high level until proven wrong.

I'm with you Broncofan.
I hope this is a wake up call. His suspensions in college ball (for drug use) didn’t do the trick. Now he’s not only “partying” like a teenager, he’s hanging out with some awful people. Drugs and guns shouldn’t be the kind of mistakes that young people make.
I’m hopeful this finally gets to him. I’m mad that he did something this stupid (even though his part in the behavior wasn’t illegal). Right now, more than anything (in my opinion), we need for older players to step and straighten these kids out so they (the young players) don’t throw away a wonderful future.

I sure am Zap.
That’s one reason to feel good about our draft (and low cost FA moves). It looks like Denver realized that character means too much, and we need to build a team based on motivation, dedication, and focus. I think we may have a problem or two this season (we’re still cleaning out the attic), but I’m thinking we are on the road back to character.

I agree HT
I think the Broncos did two things this reloading season of great impact other than talent. They signed and drafted guys who are peopel of good moral standing and people who will be a blessing not a curse in the locker room. The otehr thing they did was let player on their roster know if you don’t shape up we will ship you out and find someone to replace you. You could have the talent of 85 or TO but if you have the mindset of them too you will not be a Bronco. Cap hits mean nothing compared to morals as the organization proved with with javon “needs-a” walker.

Right.............
I’m tired of it too, just tryin to look at it in a positive light. I am impressed with the good character the Broncos went after in the Draft as well as free agency, hopefully if the “Bad Apples” find themselves in the minority in the locker room, they will realize their bad decisions and behavior isn’t going to cut it. I think we need to take a hard stance against the people who have a “Wakeup Call” every offseason. That being said, we also have to use judgement and not jump to conclusions when a player gets his name in the paper. Hopefully this year, when a player gets his name in the paper, it will be for onfield performance or some good act in the community. I’m with HT in the fact that Thomas needs to realize who he represents and what he is part of, he shouldn’t have even been there in my opinion. There is too much at stake for our players to act like this.

I hope Thomas takes care of himself
and gets his head 100% into football as soon as is humanly possible. The thing to remember about Thomas is that he is a better talent at DT than every DT in the 2008 draft, save perhaps Dorsey. He is an athletic, powerful kid who can develop into an anchor on our line, and frankly, that can’t happen too soon.
