As far as the defense goes, Shanahan said the team will be going back to the scheme they used before it was switched last season.
"Bob Slowik will be running that scheme; very different than what we did a year ago. We were ranked 31st in the National Football League," he said about the team's run defense. "If you can't stop the run, you know, you're not going to win even if you do get to the playoffs. And we'll be much improved in that area."
That comes from CBS 4 in Denver (thanks to a link in Mdierk's excellent Horse Tracks series).
Until Shanahan proves to be tricking us all, I will assume that the "Show Blitz" system will be used this fall, and will base any upcoming MHR University articles on that assumption. Denver ran a "Base - Man Out" system to finish the year, but was using Bates' "Run Contain" at the start of the season. A return to the system used before last season's switch would be Larry Coyer's "man" version of the "Show Blitz" (most teams that run the system use a zone version).
