Did Jay Cutler Know About Marshall Arrest?
I have forgotten most of my dates so this may not be completely accurate in the time frame. But I have a feeling that Jay Cutler knew about Brandon Marshall being arrested. My first reason is that it took place in Atlanta. Jay Cutler, Tony Scheffler, and Brandon Marshall were all training in Atlanta during January, February and maybe March.

I forget when but I am pretty sure it was a bit after the arrest of Marshall, Cutler called him out. Remember? He said "there is always something going on with him right now." Everybody assumed that he meant the injury to Marshall. But it made no sense! There is "always" something "right now". Well maybe he was referring to the arrest.
It is not like there is anything wrong with that. It looks like the NFL and the Broncos may have known about it. But it makes sense. Am I wrong? Correct me if I made any mistakes please.

As for your post....
There is no doubt. It is mentioned that the reason Marshall was in Atlanta was because of the workouts. It also is reported by Marshall’s agent that the NFL has all the facts in the case. This is assuredly old news to the team and the league. It is unfortunate that it is being released to the public now.
As I said, I am not giving up on B-Marsh yet, but the pattern of behavior needs to change.

Welcome to the MHR community BroncoMadness!
And I completely agree with you. BMarsh probably called Cutler when it all went down…I wouldn’t doubt if Cutler wasn’t the one who bailed him out. It seems like a QB/Leader kind of thing to do. And it would give Cutler the big stick he needed to beat BMarsh over the head wit it.
If you think about it, since that incident he has had no run-ins with the law. (fingers crossed, double, triple, quadruple crossed!)

Thanks Guys!!!
Thanks for the welcome guys. You could be right Zappa, Jay Cutler may have bailed him out. I just hope he can stay out of trouble for more than a month or two.

My take
First Welcome !
But does it matter if JC knew about it? I am betting everybody that matters in the organization knew about it. Its now just being reported. This irritates me to no end. If the news media in Denver would have reported it in March or whenever it happened thats one thing, but to rehash this trash now is BS!!! Maybe with the paper biz falling like a drunk Brittny Spears there is no need to do this now. That being said I for one am gonna support #15 more than ever! It makes me mad that this has to be such a major issue NOW. When it happened I can understand

Please don't flash the cameras BMarsh. PLEASE! You had to bring up Spears didn't ya? lol

I'm with you California boys on this one.
I’m not sure it’s significant that Jay Cutler knew about it. It does seem to explain why Cutler took it public though. t seems like a cold story that got stirred up again. Let’s hope this is the end, but if it isn’t, will he be poison to the rest of the team?
If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!

That's a scary thought.
I don’t think that I’d want to see either B-Marsh or Britney naked at this point. I’m sure that Cutler and everyone else at Dove Valley knew that this happened. I’m also sure that with what’s gone down on his rap sheet for the past few years, Marshall is on the straight and narrow from here on out or else- production be damned. I personally find his conduct to be far more troubling than Marcus Thomas’.
As for timing, I wish that I had the energy to look up when the Darrel Jackson signing took place, but I’m pretty sure that it was after this incident. Colbert was given starter money, so my thinking goes that Jackson was brought in as an insurance policy if things go bad, in addition to being competition for the #2 spot if things work out and Marshall starts and is more of a beast on the field than he is on the homefront. But, I don’t think that it’s a stretch to say that there may very well be a league mandated suspension in Marshall’s future.
I do hope otherwise, and the whole situation sucks. I haven’t been as excited about a Denver wideout since Eddie Mac hung it up. Here’s to wishing that the kid gets his act together and makes us proud for the next ten years. I’d love to be posting ten years from now and writing Cutler-Marshall > Manning-Harrison.

Cutler-Marshall > Manning-Harrison = interesting research
I wonder how many 2nd-3rd year QB-WR tandems have had similar success? The future looks bright for the two of them, in spite of Marshall’s poor personal judgement.
Secondly, welcome to MHR! Glad to have you on board.

Welcome to MHR
I’m sure Jay knew about the arrest. I kind of had the feeling that B Marsh went down there with Jay and Tony in the hopes of staying out of trouble. This would explain why Jay was so frustrated with him.

Why I feel ok about the situation.
Shanahan is placing a big emphasis on character. He knows what happened, and we know another player said he is taking Marshall under his wing. Marshall knows he is a strike away from worse things.
Also, Colbert and Jackson have been playing at 1 and 2 while Marshall heals, and we still have Parker, Stokley, and Royal. If Marshall gets hit by the NFL, or if he just does anything else stupid, we’ll understand why the “Mastermind” went for so much crazy depth at WR.
I’m with Guru. Marshall screwed up, and the team is on it, but I haven’t reached the point of giving up on him yet. Marshall’s on probation in my book. Here’s hoping he takes the hint from the team.

1) Welcome Garret
2) Like most people on the site I had Marshall on “probation”. If he indeed went to Las Vegas last weekend, he made another poor judgement and I am in favor of trading him now for the most we can get.

How is going to Vegas
On an off day bad judgement? I dont get that? Did he get in trouble in Vegas. I understand if you dont like him, but doing whatever you want to on an off day and dont get in trouble is far from a bad decision

If it were you or me
it would not be a big deal. But Marshall is a high profile player. He is big, wears expensive flashy clothes, and probably jewelry. He is placing himself in more of a position to invite trouble than if he stayed in a dusty little old cow town. I would classify this as similar bad judgement to Rothlesburger riding a bike (never mind the lack of helmet).
This time he didn’t get in a wreck, but he put himself in one more place where he could get in trouble that he didn’t have to.
In my book it is just one more bad decision.

No matter what anyone says
He did not get into trouble. So everyone is on him to improve himself. Fine I want that to. But he cant be a hermit. He did not get into trouble. If anything that excursion to Sin City should mean a little something. He was low profile, as much as you can be. Plus nobody knew he was there until that ass Javon Walker got rolled and lied about what happened. I appreciate everyones opinion but to me it reaks of hypocracy of you wanting him to be better than chasting him for doing something he wanted to do and be trouble free. I will never be convinced that it was a bad decision

I very sincerely hope
Marshall has had an epiphany and becomes the player and person of which he is capable. I trust Coach Shanahan’s judgment completely. I am obviously not in a position to judge.

We have to let the guy grow up, and hope he does
Remember that Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers had some maturity issues his first few years in the league too. Now, Smith is the guy who calls out a young prima donna like Dwayne Jarrett for not watching enough film, and partying too much. By all accounts, Brandon is a good-hearted guy who has some turds around him in his personal life, some of whom he is related to. According to his lawyer, he has severed all ties with this girlfriend whom most of his trouble revolves around.
There are lessons for these players to learn, that nobody can tell them. It’s like Marcus Thomas being in some loser’s truck, and cocaine being found by a cop. Marcus needed to learn that lesson for himself, that he couldn’t hang around people who had nothing to lose, old friends or not. We can only hope Brandon learns the same lesson, and makes better decisions in his personal life.
As far as going to Vegas, I agree with broncfan that it’s not fair to hold that against Brandon. I’ve been to Vegas twice this spring, and nothing untoward happened to me, or anybody I was with. We just had a good time, like you’re supposed to in Vegas. My only problem with anybody going anywhere is if he gets arrested, and gets suspended, and costs the team wins. Just the act of going to Las Vegas does not constitute bad judgment though.

But is it wise?
The fact that someone else goes to Las Vegas and doesn’t get into trouble in off point. How many times does a drunk driver drive drunk before he/she finally gets into trouble? How many times does a thief steal before he/she finally gets caught? Probably many times.
What is on point is that some behaviors, places, and associates are more risky than others. The drunk driver is more likely to get into some kind of trouble than the sober driver. We all know about certain parts of town you should go to if you want to avoid trouble. How many times did our parents tell us to stay away from a certain crowd? We didn’t always listen and most, or even all of the time we got away with it, what ever it was. But the fact remains we are much more likely to avoid trouble if we avoid certain people, places and behaviors.
If Thomas needs to learn that certain people, like his crack smoking high school buddies, are more likely to get him into trouble, why shouldn’t Marshall learn that certain places, like Las Vegas, are also more likely to get him into trouble?
Sorry, I feel like I’m being a Dad again.

But still
I dont believe its bad judgement to go to Vegas. Granted it is a place where he can get into trouble. But if was as fans are saying OK, lets give him a chance and see if he does really want to chance shouldnt that be allowed to happen? I mean, to me his biggest problem is with that girl in GA. Thats my humble opinion

Jack,
You have my vote for judge (if you live in an area that votes for judges versus appointment). Thanks again for the wise words counsel.
