I've about had it with Marshall
Where there's smoke there's fire. It's a tired cliche to be sure, but right now the smoke is getting thicker surrounding Marshall. It may be time to get below the smoke and find the escape route.
I was reading an article in the Post today(I'm a sucker for punishment) and came across a couple of comments defending Marshall that scared me. In the midst of all these allegations(and more have come out today) he wants to believe in him. So do I, but I am finally really starting to see the pattern.
His quote,
Marshall is a good person, he justs is in the wrong place at the wrong time and does not know how to handle it. He does not go out looking for trouble. Sure he needs to grow up but he also is still young and still learning. He will be just fine as long as you messed up Bronco hating writers and analyst stop writing negative garbage about the Broncos and the players. Every player makes mistakes, look at Marshawn Lynch, Chris Henry, Travis Henry, all these other players but everyone concentrates on Marshall, come on now give it up. He is the Broncos franchise player and he will be here for the next 12 years. He will be great just like Rod trust me.
I understand what this poor guy is trying to say. He wants desperately to believe that Marshall is going to be here and be everything he's been billed as and shown us glimpses of. "Wrong place wrong time" This is so naive. If you're in the wrong place as a multimillion dollar football player, you're just wrong.
I'm about out of trust with BMarsh. Just like Chris Henry and Adam Jones right up until they each had "that one incident" they were defended vigorously by the local fans while everyone else was shouting them down. Now that it's happening here it starts to clear up... This is the same thing that happened with them.
It's time to stop coddling Marshall and start putting the pressure on him to clean it up now, before it's too late.

I Couldn't agree more!
Lets not continue to let him slide. I think the Broncos some how, some way need to not give him the option to screw up. Maybe that means assigning someone to baby sit him. I don’t know what, but clearly he doesn’t make the right decisons in certain situations.
If I made that much money and I knew keeping my nose clean was part of continuing to make that much money. I would go out have a good time and give my body guard the standing order to drag my butt out of there at the first sign of something going bad, no matter what. I’m sure there are plenty of people who wouldn’t mind doing that for a relatively small fee.

Especially when...
Marshall has such depth fighting for roster spots behind him.

No coddling, but let's not give up yet
Brandon has been incident-free since March, as far as we know. His lawyer said this incendiary relationship with the old girlfriend is over. Let’s give him a chance to do better. Remember, this most recent arrest happened in early March, before the arm injury, which he received a lot of criticism for. Let’s not overreact to something that happened months ago, just because we didn’t know about it until last week.

It's a little disquieting
that the best we can say is that he’s been incident-free for three whole months, but I hope it’s the beginning of a longterm trend. Maybe with that poisonous relationship over with . . .

wow
I will go back to waht I have said before. This happened back in MARCH! Why now is it being reported? To me this is a ploy by the Post to sell papers in a lull in the season. He hasnt been in trouble since then, but it seems to me most the people banging away on him are looking for a reason to. Fine. Thats your choice. It seems to me, the fans want a winner who is sueaky clean. Every person in this world is different. He is no Chris Henry, Adam Jones, ect. But it seems to me its soooooo hard for people to want to cut him some slack and see if he is a man of his word.

couldnt agree more
i thought the same thing… its late june.. still a month until camp lets stir up some drama… gosh reporters need to let the past go.. seriously.. i know they are desperate for stories, but come on.. . This is not the kind of headlines Marshall should be capturing. i dont think it will effect him and come september he will be making more headlines for the right reasons. .. .so lets just make it through the offseason

I guess I'm just old
I’m not tired of Brandon, I wish he hadn’t done some of these things, but I’m not tired of him. When I look back at the twentyfive something and more years since I was twentyfour, I hurt for Brandon Marshall.
I have never been violent, sober or drunk, but I have made mistakes that I wish to GOD I could go back and correct. Brandon has made mistakes, bad ones, but all sins can be forgiven.
REBUT. For the first time I am going to give a serious rebut.
You have to be crazy if you are tired of Brandon Marshall. He knows he has made some serious mistakes. He knows he may be in trouble-and he has known it since March.
Yet, he has shown up everyday for mini-camp, he has gone out and helped in the community. When at practice he has a smile that is not fake-he has a love for football and this team that is not fake. He has said recently, “I need to change and make right decisions, I know I have made mistakes, I know these kids are smart and read the paper.” He has gone on to say that he is not going anywhere during the break. He is ‘going to work out and help with community projects.
I hope like heck that Brandon is with us for years to come. I hope that Brandon helps Cuttler make Elway a fond memory. I want the Broncos to be feared again and Brandon will help us get there.

You're not old man,
I’m old!
I think we all very much want to believe all of the things Marshall has said which you quoted accurately in your comment. The problem is that he has made similar statements before. To my understanding right after he made the statement about not going anywhere on break; he went to Las Vegas. When I critcized that decision I was disagreed with passionately on this site. Nothing happend in Vegas and Marshall is back on the field making circus catches, some one-handed with the injured arm hand. I wish him well and I do believe he could be one component in helping us “to be feared again”. So I say let’s “cut him some slack and see if he is a man of his word” as broncfanstuckinsd recommends. I still say…. GO BRANDON!!!

There is a clear pattern here, extending over several years, mostly involving his (former?) girlfriend who obviously knows how to push his buttons – and he obviously does NOT know how to deal with her properly.
But he is still young, and it would be a waste of talent to jettison him at this point. Shanny has shown a great deal of patience and loyalty with his players over the years, and it appears Brandon may have one more chance.
We have the perfect mentor for this kid already on the team- Michael Pittman. MP had a years-long, well documented problem with domestic violence/abuse and lack of self control – to the point that he rammed his wife’s car with his Hummer, pushing it off the road, while his wife AND CHILD were in it! This resulted in a league suspension. Since then, he’s kept to the straight and narrow for the last several years. He would be the perfect guy to hook BM up with. MP has been there-done that, he’s been disciplined by the league, and found a way to not only turn himself around, but repair his relationship with his wife, who he’s still with- (BM needs to dump that crazy *itch he’s been with, though). Pittman can relate to Marshall better than anyone on the team, and get Marshall started down the right path.
Having said all that, I believe the Broncos and the League need to punish Brandon for his misdeeds. He needs a suspension. He needs to lose some money and playing time to get his attention. And the Broncos can use the time to fully evaluate their deep receiver class and see where they stand without BM.
IMHO

Cutting him some slack...
I agree we all make mistakes when we are young. I don’t know what has gone on with him and his ex? If he hit her than he is wrong, no slack on that. Sorry I guess I just grew differently. If a woman hits you and you don’t like it you leave. Other than that he has done anything he can’t fix. I say give him the chance to fix it. I also think that as a proffesional athlete this guy is getting paid not only to play but to conduct himself off the field in a certain manner. Other wise their wouldn’t be a policy in the NFL. In the end I want the best for Brandon but more importantly I want the best for the Broncos.

The whole point of my post...
Is that there’s a limit to good faith. Every day more details emerge and new stories are coming out about what he’’s done. I’m tired of star athletes who get a pass from everyone because they’re good for the team. Like I said, it’s the same with Adam Jones. No one held him accountable(except the poor DAs across the country) until he was involved in the incident at the night club in Vegas. Then he was the bad guy.
Marshall needs to be held accountable. If nothing else happens, and these other cases are dropped then I can get back on board with Marshall. Until then I’m not going to fawn over him. Seriously if he can’t go the rest of the season without making a negative headline(something new) I’m done with him. I can’t, in good conscience, support a troublemaker. I don’t care how good of an athlete he is.
I want to like him. He has the right attitude on the field and knows how to say all the right things(so did Jones). First, he has to prove that all of this is behind him.
