My first logon to MHR Radio
Well, I got connected around 9:35 EST and all I heard was music. I wasn’t sure if I was connected properly, and left the room for about 45 minutes. When I came back to the pc, it was on. Wish I could have heard the whole broadcast. I also tried the chat, and it never did connect.
I’ll be sure to try next week at the start of the show. I liked what I heard.

I don't think he did a podcast.
One of the smart guys knows for sure.

Gahhh!
He didn’t do a podcast?
I certainly hope you are wrong, firstfan… just this once, anyhow. I don’t know if I could go without my MHR Radio fix, which I can only get via podcast because of my schedule. My eye is twitching just thinking about it.
THere was
a delay during the show, and in hindsight, I think Guru was considering not making that particular recording into a podcast because of the unplanned delay.
He did however mention that he might do a special edition just for the podcast crowd dealing with the points he talked about. I would guess it won’t be two hours is all.

Thanks for the info, Styg...
I’ll just sit here clutching my Broncos blanket until he decides to post a special edition or until next week’s podcast. I have a feeling that I’ll be a blubbering wreck by then LOL
You missed a good one!
There was so much music that firstfan became a Pearl Jam fan. The missus says she is going to get me a CD for taking down the Christmas Lights.

Should I tell him to get
ten, yield or a bootleg?
PJ live is the only way to fly, but ten has that classic studio PJ sound, while yield has “pure” PJ from start to finish…
I’ve got it. If you want to email me your address, firstfan, I will get a surprise in the mail to you. ;)

You have to start...
With Ten, then Yield. Though Vitalogy is a solid choice as well. Only after that do you bring in the Live stuff. That is when you get a true appreciation of the pure energy of the band….

Absolutely
of course, of course.
That is the path I followed after all, so it can’t be all that bad. :)

Are these recommended songs?

Sadly
The player is not available for linux…. and I couldn’t get it to run under wine. I will try under parallels, but I suspect I am relegated to the podcasting crowd. :-(
can you run a virtual desktop
and emulate IE? all that the player cares about is that IE detects it…

You two might as well be speaking Swahili.
I do not have a clue. The only thing I can relate to is the part about not running under wine. I learned about forty years ago to never start a chainsaw after consuming ANY wine.

I worked with a
Kenyan in the Bering Sea and he taught me a little swahili. Mostly I just remember “Hatu Jambo, Bwana,” which is a respectful greeting.
Interseting sidenote, swahili does not have words for a lot of negative ideas. Like they don’t have a word for calling another person a jerk or idiot (though they do have a word for a fool). On the same note, my friend was one of the most kind, modest and respectful men I have ever met.

Speaks volumes
Similarly, the Inupiat have over thirty words for snow. English has one for love.

don't know for sure
I may have the podcast software, but i’ve never used it. I thought it needs to be activated to use. I won’t lose sleep over it, but I’ll look into it for future recordings.
I never tried the chainsaw thing after a glass or two of wine. Wine consumption usually meant a really good steak was taken with the red. I don’t think I was ever in the mood for cutting firewood or ice sculpting after a good meal. Beer on the other hand is the more common and prefered beverage used when operating chainsaws. This coming from a Popular Mechanics survey in the March 1972 edition. (reprinted in Readers Digest some years later) I think…............

got it running, sorta
by installing IE and Flash under Wine. The client runs fine – I can interact with it, it can show me what streams are available, etc., but then just sits at “loading” when I try to connect. I am guessing it is using some other library I don’t have installed.
Sorry to dork out on you… I really am fonder of the other type of wine, after all, and make my own. And I prefer it with friends, and cheese. Rarely does it make me want to use power tools. A good lager on the other hand…
