REPORT - Travis Henry Tests Positive...Again; Facing Suspension

MyFox Colorado is reporting that former Broncos runningback Travis Henry has once again tested positive for marijuana and is facing a yearlong suspension.

A highly placed source in the NFL told Fox 31 sports reporter Josina Anderson that Henry failed the test that the troubled player would be "up for a suspension".

This comes after Henry had successfully appealed a positive test taken prior to last season.  Claiming the test was a "false positive", Henry won his claim against the NFL, though as part of the agreement he remained in the NFL's substance abuser program.

Earlier this spring the Broncos released Henry stating that the former Bill and Titan was "too inconsistent as a person. When you're too inconsistent as a person, you usually aren't going to win championships,".

When the source was asked if Henry knew of the positive test, he replied, "“I was told this result is recent. [Henry] should already be informed. If he didn’t know, he knows now,”

I think we all knew this was coming, as unfortunate as it was.  I felt at the time the Broncos knew that Henry's behavior was risky at the least and they were wise to cut ties when they did.

Thank God they cut him.

I wanted him gone last season with his “false positive”. Henry leaving helped purge the Broncos of thier 2007 sins.

Good. Another Characterless loser who doesn't play for this team anymore.

What a waste.

Step 1. Weigh the benefits of contraception and/or vasectomy. Step 2. Quit smoking weed. How hard is this?

This is insane!

I think the nfl needs to be more strict with these wastes of life.

I am so shocked

Nice. I hope he never plays in the NFL again. I cant understand these people. Have a world of talent, can make huge coin, and screw it up by smoking dope or whatever. Just wait until your plauing days are over then become what you really are

I would quit pretty much anything...

...for a chance to make over a million dollars a year.

Henry...

...was at a point he could have changed his ways. After beating a false positive (and having his head coach in his corner) Henry had the chance to become a new man. For a moment, he seemed he was. He took a pay cut to help the team (unlike Walker), and was poised to become something special.

But then he didn’t sow up whe he was supposed to, and his career went south. Shanny cut him (rightfuly so), and Henry went on to his old ways. What a waste of talent.

You said,

“[He] had the chance to become a new man. For a moment, he seemed he was.”

Those words almost sound like the opening lines of great novel, some tragedy like “The Great Gatesby”. This story is a great tragedy. Too bad it’s not fiction.

If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!

And so ends his career

I doubt any team is going to pay him anything next year after his suspension.

Have fun in Canadia Travis.

Who is dumber: Travis Henry w/ 9 children
from 9 different women & multiple failed
drug tests OR “GarretBarnes” who cannot
spell “whoa”. Idiot.

the correct phrase would be “who is more dumb?” not “who is dumber” , check yourself before ragging on others

In fact...

...it’s long been an unwritten rule that spelling, grammer, and punctuation are not requirements when speed of discourse and informality prevail on the net. And yes, this comes from a former teacher. On the other hand, rudeness is never justified. It’s a shame that Teddy has nothing intelligent to contribute. Perhaps he can go join a spelling fetish site?

thanks for the welcome Zappa, I’ve been a lurker a while, thought it was time to stick my head above the parapet, knocking that guy down a peg or two was a good excuse to get involved!

Garret is a respected poster here....

...and respected posters can take some liberties with spelling, without being criticized.

There is a song that accurately represent's Travis Henry's career...

“I’m a loser baby, so why don’t ya kill me.” Yada yada…anyone else my age will know the rest of the song. ;)

All I can do is LAUGH

because he is just pathetic. I mean you make millions of dollars to play a sport and you throw it away for some weed. Are you kidding me? What an idiot.

Thank goodness Shanny let him go because if he was still with us then we would have to deal with him and Marshall.

by weazel on Jul 11, 2008 10:55 PM MDT reply actions

it now appears...

travis failed his drug test before he was released by us, according to rmn. i suggest shanny knew he had, or will have, failed a test when he unceremoniously cut him. me, ht, and others were looking for something else to the move, and this may have been it. maybe we will get more facts on this in the coming days, but this would make sense to me. tragic

Good points as always Dave!

also...

the post is reporting that henry missed 3 tests after his successful appeal last season, but his lawyer bailed him out on those occasions. something to do with the alottment of tests regarding the cba. i’m pretty sure the broncos knew about some of this stuff, and that is what prompted shanny to cut him immediately after he found out. whatever, he is done for his career now, either way

by davecheffy on Jul 12, 2008 9:43 PM MDT reply actions

I stood behind this guy . . .

Give this guy a chance, I argued. He’s going to be a star for us. I really believed he was interested in changing.

What a maroon . . . not him (although he qualifies). Me.

The only people I feel sorry for now are those nine (at least) kids he’s leaving behind. I don’t even care about the tarts he banged. Just the kids. He’s going to have a tough time supporting them while cleaning carpets and covering his pusher’s car payments . . .
