Interesting theory regarding Hillis' fall
http://houston-nutt-news.newslib.com/story/10807-92/
It appears that Houston Nutt(former Arkansas football coach) on his way out of town potentially caused some serious harm to the former Razorback. At one point he made statements disparaging Hillis. Apparently this caused many scouts some nervousness about Hillis.
I found a site that discusses all of the insanity surrounding the problems he caused while he was coach at Arkansas.

There's some pretty damning stuff in there. If you google it there are lots of other sites out there with information.
Just thought I'd share, and as much as I tried I couldn't find more than one source for this.

To be specific
the disparaging consisted of (a staff-wide syndrome, by the way) questioning the severity of injuries to Hillis (contusion I believe) that kept him not only out of games but off the sideline as well. The feeling was that he was manipulating the system as a way of protesting his reduced playing time behind McFadden and Jones.
It is a long and complicated story.
In my opinion, after sorting through the junk, if Hillis was manipulating the system, I say Good for Him. It was a corrupt system, that reeked of abuse of privelege and power over the young kids the system should be dedicated to protecting. A bunch of old men (and women’s) egos aren’t worth a sliver of these young players lives, and Hillis is much better off in the Broncos’ camp, and among Broncos’ fans.

It was my pleasure
Just like everyone ese I kept wondering how he fell so far… It just didn’t add up.
Glad to see Hillis here.
I happy to see that at least one of the Razorbacks has moved onto the green pastures of the Rocky Mountains. I think he will enjoy the Broncos’ way of playing football. Too Bad for McFat… out of one mess into the raiders mess. Felix in the other Big “D” finds his situation just a few steps above that of McFat. Although they are close in the numbering of the worst (corrupt) run teams, the gap between the cowboys and raiders is huge. It’s like they play in a black hole or something, void of intellect and all that is moral.
