Denver was definitely
one of the teams trying to work out a trade with KC, but KC was way to greedy so no deal went through. Whether the Broncos would still be interested is a good question.
I think it is too little too late. We have other options at safety that are just as valuable as Wesley, and the 80 man limit still requires us to cut two more players just to finish getting the rookies signed.
But if Wesley was more valuable than say, Paul Carrington or Larry Birdine….

Frankly,
I like Wesley a lot. We would get a lot of “intell” from him, as well as a solid safety. I think we’ve shored up our depth, but don’t have anyone with Wesley’s ability (other than Lynch).

W:esley
The Broncos were looking to pick up Wesley last year, and were very interested at that point. Somehow it didn’t come to pass, but I would I would think that they’re still interested in him.
Unlike some of the other acquisitions that the Broncos are rumored to be interested in, this one has a solid chance. Safety is still an area of need, and wouldn’t be surprised if Wesley rates higher than Manual (likely) or even McCree (somewhat likely). I’m much more excited about Wesley than…say, Shaun Alexander.
The situation at Safety is still an area of need, largely because Lynch is clearly past his prime for pass coverage and Abdullah is still green. McCree and Manual help, but it’s an area that could still use a boost. I have hopes for Barrett, but I don’t think he’s going to provide much help as a backup S this year. His contribution would be at STs. I also have hopes for Rogers, whom many people have forgotten about but still figures in the picture. Both Barrett and Rogers are on the bubble, and Wesley could easily win the #4-S over Manual. There may not be a #5 safety. I think there will be 9 DBs, with 5 coming from the CBs.
BTW—I was one of the many people who went “WHAT!” when the Broncos passed on Tyrell Johnson and picked Royal. I had even anticipated the needs of the five teams that preceded Denver just to find out if Johnson would be available. I was also hoping for a S in their high picks last year. I guess I’m not alone in my liking of the S position, judging from some of the other posts.

More on Wesley
Sorry about not reading your original post, Styg50, I jumped in a little too quickly in my post below.
I took some time to look into the Wesley situation at KC and I don’t get the impression the Broncos would be interested at this point. Last year’s offer of a #4 rd. pick would have been good for KC given how they’ve moved over the course of this last year, but they nixed the trade and maybe that’s best. KC’s offer to trade Wesley for Pahmah this March was rejected by the Broncos - wisely, I think - despite Pahmah’s impending legal problems and status as a RFA. I recall hearing something about the Broncos having lost interest in Wesley but I haven’t been able to confirm this.
Wesley was an intriguing talent at one point but appears to be a liability in pass coverage now. The same thing was said about Lynch, however, so I wouldn’t want to close the door completely. One other consideration would be his desire to become a starter again. I doubt that we could guarantee that and we would most likely look to use him as a backup, for the most part. I’ve also heard reports that make me question his attitude, although that could be the product of the situation in KC. Still, I don’t think there’s any reason to risk contaminating the the team’s morale, especially since we’ve made such great strides in that area lately. I’d far rather have a team player and solid citizen like McCree than an athlete with ego issues.

I wanted to buy tix for that game
And even know a Bills fan I could have convinced to fly out there, but I will admit that I wimped out off the idea of going to a game in Denver in late December (especially since I plan on flying to Charlotte for the Panthers game the week before)

Here's two more pics of Rivers for you

Cause he lights up the Broncos defense like a Christmas tree.

119.8
That’s Rivers QB rating versus the Broncos.

you are assuming
he is gonna be 100% by week two. Look I am no charger fan or lover. But you really need to take a honest look at him. Sure in non contact drills he has looked good. But thats a far cry from full contact. Plus nobody knows how his knee is and head is. (well we all know how his head is). Look SD is good but it is really presuptious by anyone to think he is 100% 5 months after his surgery.
by broncfanstuckinsd on Jul 18, 2008 2:27 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
All very reasonable
There may well be some effect on his play early in the year. I don’t really expect him to maintain a 120 QB rating against Denver either; just funning with you guys for teasing Rivers all the time. Even with the injuries, I’m still excited about our chances for next season.

I gotta go
with DaBolts here, unfortunately. Phyllis shines when he plays the Broncos, and as a result LT has started looking better (we used to be his worst games of the year, not anymore). Gates has always been a problem and I look forward to him possibly being done putting up hall of fame numbers (I can dream right?) with this injury he is struggling with, but Chambers was a smart addition that should alleviate the damage down the line.
Denver needs to Bring It this year, early and often, when they play SD, and they need to put an end to Phyllis’ comfort level in Denver… Its tough beans, but it is what it is.

I do believe
he has done well in the past 2 season is because the Broncos have not been able to contain LT. Now when LT is a non factor and he phyllis has the same rating I will give him his due. But until then I reserve my judgement on how good he really is.
I dont blame ya Bolt man for be stoked, but I think the Chargers window is closing rapidly. They have a lot of FA’s coming up in the 2 years. Plus I wonder how the stadium fiasco is gonna impact their future signings.

can't find a chargers site huh?
That’s because your team has no true fans, just bandwagon riding mongos.
Michael Fabiano really knows nothing about football outside of regression analysis and stat extrapolation. If it doesn’t have to do with fantasy football, his opinion is worthless.

and zero rings
I dont begrudge his rating, however its been more LT beating denver and not Rivers. That was my point
by broncfanstuckinsd on Jul 18, 2008 1:08 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
I needed a laugh.
It is funny how Charger fans like to talk a lot for not accomplishing anything.
I do think it’s more LT than Rivers and the fact that our run defense was pathetic didn’t help either. Rivers better watch out because one solid hit and he could be out for a while with those two bad knees he has.
I am happy for Mark Schlereth’s son being drafted by the Diamondbacks. Hopefully he will have a good MLB career. I like listening to Mark on NFL live and am happy for him as well.
