Best Wishes to Ian
I think he gave us 100% the entire time he was a Bronco.

Some of us...
think he retired around Week 3 last year!
Seriously, as Matt said, his first stint as a Bronco was solid. Good luck, Ian!

It is always hard ....
In my opinion to bid farewell to Broncos that were great but had a performance slip at the end, is always a tough thing. I love the Gold of the past. He was great. Down right awesome.
Although his performance slipped – I admire him as a man and a Bronco. There was a day he was part of the best LB crew in the NFL. Nobody can take that away from him.
I am glad he got to go out as a Bronco and I wish him the best of luck.

This might be the proper time to remind Broncos fans
about the notion that when he returned from his time in TB, that he demanded to be the WILL and so DJ was moved after his dominating rookie performance, setting him back terminally.
Not true.
Gold was listed at WLB, both on the depth chart and on the weekly gamecards, but on the field he lined up at SAM all year long. He never endorsed moving DJ or demanded his spot if he were to return. What DID happen was that bringing him in created a lot of confusion (Coyer’s fault IMO) whenever the nickle package was brought in, since there were no set rules for personnel and too often DJ would be on the sideline. The next year was when DJ officially moved to SAM, and it was because they wanted him to get better at his coverage assignments so that he could be a “sure-fire” every down backer.
I don’t know haow many people still view Ian as the bad guy in that whole mess, but I just thought this was a good time to remind everyone of how it went down….

the way I look at it
As all members of LB corp did what was best for the TEAM. Just like DJ did last year as a MLB. I think he was frustrated last year and maybe popped off, but he was a good player for many years. Plus he helped beat Oakland in the final MNF game and fader game at Mile Hi.
