Brandon Marshall Meets With Commish, Decision Should Come Soon

Marshall's Fate Will Be Decided Soon
The Denver Post reported that Broncos' WR Brandon Marshall spent over 2 hours last Friday in New York meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell discussing his multiple run-ins with authorities. While the meeting wasn't a surprise, who joined Marshall in New York was. Along with Marshall's attorney, Rod Smith also joined Marshall, a sign to me that Smith is taking on a role I have long hoped he would.
With Smith, known as someone that has done it the right way, showing the League that he is in Marshall's corner the hope is the League will take it into consideration when handing down a decision. Shanny has stated that he feels no suspension is warranted because most of Marshall's issues involved a bad relationship that has since been broken off. The League, of course, has been less than understanding in the past when it comes to repeat offenders, regardless if there has been an actual conviction.
My stand all along is that Marshall will probably face a 2-game suspension. Like it or not, convicted or not, psycho girlfriend or not, playing in the NFL is privilege, not a right, and it needs to be taken seriously and handled with care. Even if you believe that the issues surrounding Marshall aren't that serious the NFL does not agree and all the players know it coming in. It may not be fair, but it is understood.
Regardless of the outcome we all have to hope that Marshall has seen the last of his name in the police blotter. Suspended or not, the NFL is going to be keeping a close eye on #15 and he will need to keep his nose clean. With Rod Smith in his corner, my faith in that improves dramatically.

With all the stuff you read about what other players have done – often with guns involved – I am very surprised that Marshall apparently is this close to a suspension. It doesn’t seem proprtionate to me.
If Marshall does get suspended however, I only hope that that will give Royal a chance to show us his potential. I hope I don’t come crashing down to earth regarding my high hopes for his future in blue and orange.

Quantity over Quality
Brandon hasn’t done anything “big” per se, but there have been numerous run-ins with the law. That’s enough to bring the Goodell’s Hammer of Justice. But t he encouraging news is that Rod was there with Brandon; looks like Rod’s presence will continue with the Broncos organization, and that can only mean good things!
(Quick Note: when I said “nothing big”, I am not trying to imply that domestic violence, in whatever shape it took, is not a serious issue. Just that there was no gun fire, no “making it rain”, and no potential deaths. Outside of the Darrent Williams issue, I guess. I’ll just shut up now.)

Helping Brandon stay out of trouble..
may be the biggest challenge of Rod’s great career. I hope its just a two game suspension.

I agree with Guru.
I think their will be a suspension, and I think it will be light. I am also thrilled that Rod Smith went to NY, and I think that Rod can and will be a part of helping players in Denver to succeed.
