Bad news about Carlton Powell...

I just watched the video of Shanahan speaking to the media this afternoon.

When asked to elaborate on Powell's injury Shanahan had this to say...

"It happened a number of weeks ago, he just uh, his achilles popped in the offseason conditioning program and obviously out for the year."

Ugh, this sucks! I was really looking forward to seeing him in action and seeing the defensive line improve.

What do you guys think will happen now?

It doesn't bode well for your career to have such a severe injury right out of the gate.

I feel for Powell and hope he recovers 100%. This screws up out options at DT. :(

As of right now Dorsey hasn't signed with the chiefs...

Maybe they want some more draft picks for next year… Trying to smile through my tears.

i say trade our first, second, and fifth rounds for Dorsey. McKinley, Thomas, Harris, Mallard, and Robertson is our DT!!! (we are SCREW)

It all depends on Robertson now...Thomas can hold his own, kind of a Tim Crowder type.

Hell, maybe we move Crowder over to DT this year. :(

We still have a battle for four roster spots. i would not write off the duck man. Mallard’s weight can be like DOOM’s height. Not that big of a deal. He plays like he is 20 lbs heavier and he is quick. I respectfully disagree with vietmingh99. I am still not ready to push the panic button.

Remember folks...

A rookie DT is most often an investment in the future, not an immediate impact. We wouldn’t have counted on much for this year at any rate. We may make a FA move. Either way, this isn’t panic mode time yet.
