Who cares about ESPN !
Since joining SB Nation and MHR I have visited almost every SB team site concerning football. You all should do it (if you're from the south, Y'allshdoit.)
I really think that (even being a medium market) we have five times the participation of fans around the country than any of the other team's sites.
I went to the Texan's site after our first game and made a comment on a post by some kid called (I think) texasmaniac (Ithink) I was kind, gave my point of view, and this kid was very excited that someone had 'made a comment' on his post. Two days later I go back....only one other comment...and it was to me--not this kid that had made the post. This kid's post was a very fine break-down of what happened during the game.
How many at this site have made a post and not got a response?
Everyone at this site needs to give GURU a hand! He has put together a site that everyone feels comfortable and anyone can contribute--as long as you are kind.
I went to Steelers got no response. I went to Miami, 'the Phins' (I think) and got a good response. We are right next to the 50th of the old AFL (something I think we should start gathering ideas about) and I got good answers--but it was only from one person.
As I bounced from team to team the main thing I noticed is that most SB sites are dominated by just one--two--maybe--three writers....and not many more of people that just comment.
This site is something special, I don't have cable but still laugh at ESPN (hmmm espn that looks better).
My hat (which I don't wear) still goes of for the staff of this site.
Guru, HT, Styg, Zappa (the 13-3 prophet), and mdierk.
You have created a site that other teams don't have.
Thankyou!
Who needs espn?!

I too noticed that the level of participation at MHR is head and shoulders above the rest of the NFL blogs on SBNation
It doesn’t even come down to comments. It is nice to get a response, but many times a post is so complete that it garners almost no comment by those who read it. That doesn’t mean it was bad, it just means everyone probably felt “enough said” and moved on. lol
As far as compliment is concerned, I know for a fact that Guru toiled endlessly for the first year or more by himself to make this site what it is today. I truly think that he knew that the only way he could have taken MHR to the next level was to get other Bronco fans involved. The fanpost section is the driving force as I’ve heard Guru state many times…he is 100% right.
As for ESPN…I can’t recall the last time I watched them. I know I lost interest when they broke up Chris Berman and Tom Jackson. In spite of all the critics, I absolutely loved their weekly show on Sunday Evenings. I still remember back in the day, “Look at that little Meggett go!” and all the other little jingles Berman used to come up with. But ESPN is a shadow of its former self. The internet is the way things are going to be done in the future…internet allows viewers to have a two-way discussion rather than televisions one-way or the highway opinions. I haven’t yelled at the moron pundits on tv in a long long time. :)

they had to
When ESPN got the MNF games and NBC took over the SNF ESPN could no longer do game recaps before the NFL games. It was part of the deal NBC got in the TV pkg. I hate the fact they dont do it anymore

Travel and Permanent Residency to La-La-Land.
Mike,
Was thinking you should do a post on Visa requirement / Work permits / and Permanent Residency in La-La-Land for those Fan that would like to visit, have and extended stay, or even set up and run for the next mayoral ship of La-La-Land.
While I may not want to live their permanently, I for one have been thinking I may want to buy a summer home there.

You are welcome any time—no Visa required. Be prepared however, la-la-land sometimes throws everyone out (me included) during the regular season. The road to la-la-land closes and does not open again until the draft.
So don’t take anything with you that you might need before spring.

Mike,
you are most certainly welcome. I am proud to say at MHR we do the dirty work so you don’t have to. I don’t know how long I will continue with this, but I will go as long as I am able (if Guru doesn’t replace me) or the wife gets fed up.

Good site.
MHR is on my favorites.
I really only visit 2 sites, of which MHR is one of them.
Some great information, great blogs and posts. Nicest of all, we dont always agree on this board but people handle themselves like adults, listen to others arguments and share a passion for football and the Broncos.
Great site guys.
Big thank yous from a pretty new subscriber.
Thanks!

A big thank you to everyone.
First and foremost to Guru. This site is his labor of love, he got it going, went it alone for a long time, built it up, then let others in to help it fly even further. Most folks couldn’t have done it, and very, very few would have had the humility to share it. A lot of blogs out there are all about one person. Guru shares the wealth.
I think Guru brought me on board next. I think I do an ok job with technical writing (Chalk Talk for game preps, MHR-U in the reloading season), but Guru scored the real big touchdown when he brought in Styg and his extraordinary talent for writing.
Zappa came in and (despite his young age) has become something of the team historian. Mdierk came in and became the site’s news reporter. And we have Sirsam, who provides us with the most awesome graphics.
But most of all, the real heros that get the thanks are the members. The membership does an awesome job writing posts and making terrific comments. They are the reason that more members show up every day, and from around the world. Our members show a lot of class, a lot of knowledge, and a lot of passion for the team. It’s no wonder that members of the Denver Broncos (and even a player’s grandmother) pop in at MHR. It’s also par for the course to see articles at MHR linked at “the big boys” like SI and ESPN.
We have a great leader, and he has loyal helpers. But more than that, he has the best members going. That’s what dirves the site, and that’s what makes it #1.
