Can fans make a difference--I don't know--but curious thought.
About five or so minutes ago I went to the Packer's SB site and made a comment. I was kind and simply asked them what their thoughts were on this upcoming game. I waited around for three/four minutes and got no response. Then I noticed something funny. Their most recent fan-post was four days ago. Take a look at our Fan-Posts.
I know I just did a post about how special this site is, but, for some reason, I want to do it again.
Last time I thanked the staff-- they do deserve to be thanked--but the real reason for the success of this site is me. You heard it right--it is me that made this site great. Of course I wasn't alone, in fact it wasn't me at all--except in la-la-land I can believe want i want....so there!
Its funny what happens when like-minded kind (yet with opinions), intellegent (yet humble), funny (yet serious) people love the same thing and get together.
When I started this post I was going to name every person I have read, commented to, and been commented from--but I just can't.
The bears, firsts, paps, teds, silvers,b..sds,guns,mans, and the so many that have made this site so fun--you are what have made this site so special.
I don't know if any of you have ever read Horvil Tiki but I would like to nominate him for 'Secretary-of-Communication' of la-la-land.

Love your attitude, Mike
And you’re right – this is such a rare experience in any form of blog, sports of otherwise, that it’s well worth noticing. Good for you to thank so many people – I think we all agree that youpre one of the good guys. (I like the Tiki idea :-) )
Atwater for the Hall!
Tiki and communication..........is a la-la-(and then some)-la experience.
Thanks Bear! I just wanted to say thanks somehow to everyone.
Broncos broncos everywhere and all the league did blink,
Yes sir!!!
There is a reason that we’re called the 12th man…and it’s not just making noise on gameday. Fans create an energy. It’s a give and take between teams and their fans but if they hit the correct synergy then something special can happen. I believe attitude is important in this. I think if a team has an overwhelmingly negative fan base (Philadelphia) then even a great team can struggle against the negative energy that is created. However, an overwhelmingly positive energy can take an okay team and make them a champion.

Mermaid, you are one of the 'fun' and 'smart' of this site. Thankyou!
What do you think of Tiki !

Thanks for the compliment...

It's true!
I firmly believe this.
Fans create an energy.
Your example of Philadelphia is so very true. Thanks Mermaid.

I believe they can and do
Of course to a point. There are reason (IMO) why Denver has had such a great Homefield advantage over the decades. For one the place is always SOLD OUT! PLus it gets loud for the opposing team and fires up the Broncos. What I have noticed that MHR always gets great responses and intelligent banter going back and forth. Plus we all have a love for all things Blue and Orange! We all feel they are good and always wants whats best for them. Plus for me it helps to know I have friends in LA-LA Land

I think...
…the Broncos organization reads our site, for real. I think a bunch of the players do for sure…maybe even some of the coaches??
There is only One Moment—this moment—the Eternal Moment of Now
I try not to think about that...
I am on MHR for one selfish ass reason. I am obsessed with the Denver Broncos and I need to place to go to talk about them…otherwise I might be looking for good divorce lawyers sometime in the future. lol Not really, but my wife is tired of hearing about anything Broncos or football in general. Thanks to MHR, she doesn’t have to hear it.
And if players do read this site and read something bad I wrote about them, they should take it with a grain of salt! They make millions, I make thousands…end of story. lmao

Maybe
And if players do read this site and read something bad I wrote about them, they should take it with a grain of saltShouldn’t that be considered constructive critisism? I think they should look at anything the fans say as a way to endear the fan to them. When we at MHR said Brandon Marshall needs to grow up, we meant it as a way for him to step up on this team to make it better!

There are people from the Broncos that do read the site.

Wish more of us were filling the seats . . .
I just wish more fans like us filled all the seats at Invesco. It seems over the years, and definitely since Mile High went down, there are more fairweather fans filling the seats at Invesco.
For instance, I was surprised to hear they had like 14,000 no shows at the Dallas game. Sure, rain was forecasted. But that did not stop fans in the old days at Mile High. In fact the worse the weather, the more rowdy they were.
I know I am in la la land too about this issue, but it just pisses me off that the money driving interests to get wealthy people to come to the game, sit in luxury boxes, buy wine, and have strict fan behavior rules have prohibited rabid fandom at the games.
Anyway, I know, and anyone who went to a game at Mile High Stadium knows that fans can make a big difference. I am just bummed that fans have less of an influence now.
Young Gun.............It is a bad world that is happening before our little bain that tries to figure what went wrong.
You are doing well to just try to make sense. Lets hope Bronco’s do well this year.
Broncos broncos everywhere and all the league did blink,
14000 no shows to a preseason game that costs the same as a regular season game?
I’m not suprised at all with that. Add that to having all us fans dispersed all over the world and it is a tough thing to pull off.
I do have a goal however, that I want to get debt free and get moved back to Colorado Springs or Denver and then I will pursue season tickets. I was offered season tickets this year, but I couldn’t justify spending $1600 for the year and that doesn’t count cost of travel and accomodations.
The biggest mistake they made was dispersing the people in the old south stands when the new stadium was built. There were families and a few generations of fans broken up. That killed the noise.

kept talking about the new Arlington Stadium (I know Papigrande missed those) and how the fans will be so much closer to the sidelines like at Invesco. I had to laugh at that because the fans were right on top of the field at Mile High. Another poor design choice for Invesco.
They also should have made a better effort at making the South Stands separate from the rest of the stadium (even though they think they did).

Am I paps?
And you are absolutely right. I’ve been a part of many blogs and/or forums, and this one is by far the best. Not only do we stand out in sheer numbers, but everyone I’ve read here is respectful, intelligent, and understanding. I haven’t seen any of us go out to poop on anyone else’s site, as I’ve seen Raiders, Colts, and Chiefs fans do here. We should all be proud to be a part of this magnificent site.
While thanking my lucky stars and knocking on wood, I would also like to point out the lack of 12-year-old d-bags with superiority complexes. On every other blog known to man, there are always those guys that will quickly point out any grammatical flaw, any perceived lack of understanding, or any other such failure. You know those guys on xbox live that win every Halo match with 23 headshots and the proclaim, "ZOMG! I ARE TEH PWNSTERZ

Hi... paps.. papigrande............don't you think 'two toad evil spirit' is a little strong for Wade?
Broncos broncos everywhere and all the league did blink,
No
The ballad of Wade Fillups (re-told by papigrande):
Wade want get revenge for the bronco to release him. Wade Fillups want coach Bronco, but Bronco say go home guy, we don’t want guy. Wade Fillups, he get so angry. Soul fill with the anger. He go home and eat all the foulest meats. He drink foul water. His spirit become two prong evil toad spirit. He want get revenge on Bronco. He makey the blitz.
Or somethink like that.
LOL.. Papi. that is an amazing teach of history..I knew Wade was a bad coach
I didn’t know he was so foul.
Broncos broncos everywhere and all the league did blink,
One more thing...
Holy crap, they only had 16 posts on their open thread for their last game! Didn’t we have 900-something over two separate threads? I know I had 140, so that means I had……(does quick mental math)……8……and……3/4 times as many as their entire site! I didn’t know Green Bay was that small of a market.
Greenbay Fans were watching Favre in Jets game, and thinking . . .
“Crap the Jets are going to be better than we are!” or
“Damn Brett still looks like Brett, so why did we run him off?!”
They are in the grieving stage of denial or depression. So no fun to blog when upset like that.

Broncos broncos everywhere and all the league did blink,
Just so everyone on the MHR knows
of the roughly 60,000 attendees at the Dallas game at least 25,000 were in Dallas jerseys and coats. It may have been half. At some points in the game the Dallas fans were nearly as loud as the Denver fans.
What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us. - Emerson
You may have been sitting by the Dallas section...
From my seats there were very few Dallas fans…and they weren’t very loud (they didn’t have much to cheer about). However, it wouldn’t surprise. Apparently half the state of Texas has moved to Colorado at this point.
When I watched the replay you could see the camera shaking at a couple of points which is pretty good for a preseason game.
by UnarmingMermaid on Aug 19, 2008 8:34 PM MDT up reply actions
It must have been the Dallas section.
I was using the family season tickets. There were two knock-out Denver fans in front of me and every one else around was for Dallas! It was disgusting!

Broncos broncos everywhere and all the league did blink,
I got off topic
with my comments about the number of Dallas fans. You make an excellent point Mike in that the positive attitude of this site does indeed make a difference!. Great post Mike, thanks.

firstfan,,,,,,,,Thanks for you.......you have made a difference. --and been special to this site.
Broncos broncos everywhere and all the league did blink,
No doubt...
Not even a full on fan but this site by far exceeds any other blog-type site in terms of fan interaction and it enhances the experience for sure…I have been on some message boards that are equal in participation but the format of SB Nation is unique and MHR has to have one of the highest levels of involvement at this point on SB nation.
jhawk...........You are right indeed.........but thanks to this sites response...this post will be gone.
Broncos broncos everywhere and all the league did blink,
True that! FanPosts typically last much long than front page posts though...my work gets buried in about two days. lol
The great thing about FanPosts is that people can “recommend” a post they like and if you get 5 recs then it stays at the top for a couple of weeks. I’m not sure if many people around know this because not many posts get recommended around here. lol I’ve tried to rec a few great posts that just end up getting buried…perhaps most people reserve the “rec” command for the truly special posting..I’m not sure. I haven’t figured it out yet. lol
