It was reported today that Matt Leinart would again be benched for the season opener in favor of 37 year old Kurt Warner even though he was named starter at the beginning of training camp.
This begs the question of what the Broncos might have done had the Cardinals drafted Cutler at the #10 spot, leaving Leinart for the Broncos to take with the next pick. I don't think anyone could have really predicted that the former Heiman winner would have been this god awful at the pro level. Would Shanny have bitten the bullet and taken Leinart at #11 or do you think he would have gone another direction. I would think our war room would have shared the same red flags that all other teams at 1-9 had on Leinart. Or is it possible that the Broncos could have developed Leinart in a similar fashion they have with Cutler? I don't know, but everytime I see Leinart, I think of a lefty Griese. Adequate skillsets but nothing that jumps off the page to think that his abilities could carry a team on his back.
Just makes you wonder and more importantly......THANKFUL!!.....that the good graces that be, let the Cardinals take Leinart and put our beloved Broncos in a position to snag what turns out to be clearly the best QB or dare I say Draft Pick in that class.
