Time Warp - Surprise Cuts of 2008
You know. If I time warped myself back to August of 2007 and was looking forward to the start of the 2008 season, here are some surprise cuts that have already happened this year and some other that could come as a surprise to me:
Guy that have lready been cut that would have been a total surprise to me August of 2007:
Travis Henry, Javon Walker, Matt Lepsis, John Lynch, and Mike Bell(not so much)
Possible surprise veteran cuts:
Patrick Ramsey, Tom Nalen, Cecil Sapp, Ebenezer Ekuban, Montrae Holland, or John Engleberger
I can almost guarantee that someone not on the above list will be cut that will slap us all in the face, but we have too many young guys who have made impacts this preseason for all of the above veterans to make the team. In any case, it shall be interesting to see which direction Shanny goes. Youth or Veteranship....he has always leaned towards veterans, but this year seems different to me. A lot different.
FYI: My surprise pick would be Ebenezer Ekuban. I like the guy, but I am just guessing using a gut feeling.

darn...I'm listening to the podcast and Guru said all of these names last night.
I did steal his Montrae Holland call though, I was there for that one…but I thought I was unique in E.E. getting cut. lol

Madden 08
Yeah, I noticed this when I went to play madden 08 (I live in a cave, don’t have 09) and saw that of our top 6 players in the ranking, only champ is still here. The rest were Walker, Lepsis, Elam, Lynch, Henry I think.

Yea, no '09 either. I live in a cave guarded by a wife who thinks spending money on games is absurd...I tend to agree, so '08 it is!!! lol

Is it just me
or does it seem like the madden games forget that the broncos are a good team. I mean dude, the whole O line is an average of 81 out of 99? come on now! Run DMC comes into the league rated higher than 6 starting backs! I just dont know what to do with that game anymore!

I always make sure to edit Mike Vick...nothing irritates me more than to see a QB run for 2000 yards. moronic!

use the accelerated clock option! It cuts down on that crap

i always used accelerated clock and increase the time of the quarters to 7 minutes.
I keep it there because on all-madden I can still score about 40-50 points in that amount of time. on all-pro i score about 100 points. i prefer realism over “never happen in a million years”. though i do hate to punt on a video game…which is why i set field goal range to max and kick 70 yard field goals. lol only punt when i get stopped rarely before the opp. 40 yard line.

I use accel clock and do 15 min quarters
it keeps the numbers real and it only takes about 15 min more than a 5 min quarters game!

Not familiar with the game.
What does accelerated clock do?

Once you pick a play and break the huddle
The play clock jumps down to 20. If you play quite a bit and know the plays you want to run, it only take a couple seconds so you can break the huddle with the play clock closer to 35. Probably cuts the number of plays in a game by about a third.
And apparently it does not exist in Madden 2009

After seeing Run DMC
against the Cardinals, I would have a hard time giving him any value.
He MIGHT have had one run over 3 yards. The rest were stuffed at the line.

raider fans insiste that Kiffin said before the game that he was going to pass the ball all night long.
needless to say, he found out that the raiders have no passing offense….

i think Kiffin thought he might not have a passing game and was hoping
he could force them to find a way to pass the ball….didn’t work.

So, that should have made it easier for him to get yards...
but, I guess you have to have an O-Line that can either run or pass block neither of which seemed to be there…

I have to say ...
…the one I want gone are problably the ones we keep. Bly Ramsey and Sapp are the ones I think should be on the chop block.
I think Shannahan has enough respect for Tom Nalen, as do I, that he would call him talk to him and say, look we have to trim down, right now you are plugging a hole on a line that needs to get back in form, retire! Nalen has been great for us but it is time to hang it up bro! All the best to you!
I think Engleberger and Ekuban are safe based on the fact that we need defensive line depth and experience. They provide a bit of security to me because of my opinion on Jarvis Moss. I think they stay too.
The surprise to me would be in fact Holland because he is working out his issues to get back on this teams first string. He is also a team player and willing to do whatever it takes to be apart of the Broncos.

i voted sapp
the coaches love him, but if we keep pittman until torain returns, sapp has to go. holland is traded already, and no way do we cut ekuban. i think he is our best all-around de, bar none. the only reason he would get cut is if we didn’t think he could get healthy, which is a possibility. but i don’t like our de depth without him, at all
