What might of been?
As we near the end of the pre-season, I remember a recent article in the Post or maybe RMN, that had said if Arizona had drafted Cutler instead of Leinart that we would of passed on Leinart and somehow Plummer would of still been the QB and this year we would of traded for Brett Favre and gotten rid of Plummer. Of course this always goes to the ifs and buts column, but I was curious if Arizona had drafted Cutler do you think we would of passed on Leinart, or my theory that I shudder to think about, we would of passed on Leinart and drafted Brady Quinn, the horror!, Anyways, simple question, what do you think would of happened if the Cardinals had drafted Cutler?

Mauroney
If we didn’t draft Cutler, Shanahan would have drafted Laurence Mauroney that year instead. I also think that Jake would still be our QB. What is interesting to me is that he only retired after he was traded to the Bucs, which seems a little suspicious. I wonder if he would have hung it up if he was traded to the Texans or Bears, teams that needed him more than the Bucs did at the time, or if we would have kept him. I don’t think that we would have drafted Quinn last year, but I think it is possible that we might have drafted Flacco or Brohm this year in the first round instead of Clady.
This “what if” scenario makes me think of Elway and what would have happened if we didn’t draft him. Also, there is a website called Four Horsemen that had 11 things that changed sports history, and it talked about the Elway situation:
