Joe Biden Loves Floyd Little
My man Joe Biden shouted out his friend Floyd Little in his speech at Mile High a few minutes ago. We try to keep things apolitical here, but I love this guy, and wanted him to be the President of the United States at the beginning of all of this. He's such a true regular guy. I hope that his shout-out raises some awareness of Floyd, a day after the seniors' committee snubbed him and Randy Gradishar again.
By the way, I was unaware of much detail of Floyd's career until Firstfan sent me a copy of Floyd's book. If anybody would like to read it, I'll pass it on to you. It's very worthwhile, and informative.

The sad thing....
When he first said his name, no one in the crowd knew who he was. I guess not alot of Coloradoans were able to get in…..

That is sad....
maybe it’s generational too… It’s a pretty young looking crowd, which I guess you’d expect for Obama.

…would like to vote for Floyd Little for President. (friendly sarcasm)
Ted, could you tell your comrades to be gentle to the field? Mdierk and I were on the phone the other night, cringing about all the greek looking columns and chairs spread over our wonderful playing field at Invesco. There’s a nice convention center they can trash across town that’s meant for these kinds of things.

Throw in that she is the attentive mother of a Downs Syndrome child, and Gov of the largest state in the country (Alaska, home to several MHR folks), and she seems like a good pick.

She is a good Governor
I met her and asked her some questions about her pro-life stance, and was surprised at her enthusiasm and depth when discussing ideas. She lights up.
Coupled with her physical charms that is a sure recipe for babe in my book…
I suspect she might even be a Bronco fan. Finding out for sure was on my list of things to do before she was selected as a running mate for McCain, but I can prioritize it.
And isn’t Condoleeza Rice a Broncos fan too?

She's also a heck of a reformer.
She ran against the “old boys” network in Alaska, and has gone after a lot of wasteful habits. In that sense she would be a maverick. What I like (from a political science standpoint) is the trap she sets. How do you go after her lack of experience, without bringing attention back to Obama? She has executive experience running a state and businesses, while Obama is part way through a term as a senator with no experience running any kind of business or geographic entity.
Sneaky pick on McCain’s part.

the globalist agenda will be pushed no matter who wins…THAT is what pisses me off. I’m voting 3rd party…screw it. :) Not that it would matter in CA…only democrat votes matter in this state…republicans only get the privilage of living here without having their votes matter for anything. ;) That’s why I decided it would be best to vote with my conscience rather than for the lesser of two evils…either way my vote wouldn’t matter. lol

Palin occupies the position as leader of the Senate...
.., something a lot of folks don’t realize about a V. Pres. If she wanted to, she could chair the senate by force at her whim. She also breaks ties.
While I disagree with several of McCain’s positions, he IS tough on reckless spending, and will be a strong veto. He’ll do more to stop excesses, and will be in little position (with the projected congress) to push ideas that you and I disagree with.

Umm Biden's son is in the military
His name is Beau Biden, and in addition to being the Attorney General of Delaware, he’s a Captain in the Delaware National Guard. He’s scheduled to be deployed to Iraq in October.

Thank you Jon.
There is a HUGE misconception that being in the Guard or reserves protects someone from deployment.
The most troops at a given time in WWs 1 and 2, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War 1 and 2, and Afghanistan have been National Guardsmen. They also represent the highest casualities (because of there numbers. The ratio of Guard to Active casualties is about equal).
I admire anybody who enlists (or commissions) into the Guard or Reserves. They are putting themselves into a position MUCH more likely to be deployed to a conflict. Some folks will say that the Guard protects one from the draft, but this is also misleading. Membership in the Guard ensures that you are in the front of the line to be deployed.
Bush didn’t take a desk job, he was a fighter pilot. That’s not a safe decision if you are all about staying alive.

I disagree...media really determines who gets nominated.
I watched this DVD 4 Delegates things and it showed that a politicians popularity is directly in line with the amount of air time they receive from the media.
Currently, the Obama campaign needs almost twice as much air time just to stay two points ahead of McCain. People don’t really look at voting records anymore…they believe the politicians when they tell their lies. I check records and I know they are corrupt. Obama, Biden, and McCain are totally corrupt…this Sarah Palin chick isn’t. In spite of the BS coming out of the MSM about some lame thing to do with her ex brother-in-law…they are grasping at straws. lol
In any case, I still won’t vote for either candidate…screw them and their corrupt ways. :D

National Guard
The National Guard (and Army Enlisted Reserve) were both cop outs during the Vietnam era – do basic training and then six years of weekend warrior stuff.
But in the Iraq era, the National Guard has spent a lot of time in the war zone.

Biden's other son is likely to get some negative attention though.
The firm he is at has a cozy relationship with Biden’s office, and worse, one of his committees.
Either way, I support both of the sons of our candidates who choose to serve the country through military service, regardless of party.

But it wasn't...was it?
My man Joe Biden shouted out his friend Floyd Little in his speech at Mile High a few minutes ago. We try to keep things apolitical here, but I love this guy, and wanted him to be the President of the United States at the beginning of all of this. He’s such a true regular guy.
That right there tells us all that it’s more of a political statement than a football statement. I am very political, mostly outside MHR, and I know the backgrounds of both the democratic candidates and the republican candidates and they are all corrupt, arrogant socialists. The only person I respect out of the 4 is Sarah Padin, but McCain will no doubt keep her values under wraps as President.
I’d prefer not to discuss politics, because the feelings each of us have are so personal that it is almost impossible not to offend someone while talking about. I think we should all stick to football and keep our own personally held political beliefs to ourselves…it’s hard to do, but we’ll be able to remain friends if we do.
Go Ron Paul! lol Just to let everyone know how politically ineffective I will be this November!

Not entirely in context.
She’s being investigated because she has gone after years of corruption in the state legislature, and they hate her for it. Both the state and federal justice departments have given her a clean bill of health. A few leaders in the state legislature want her out of the way in the worst way, and it isn’t working.
It is a republican controlled body, but that doesn’t matter. Unfortunately (as I am a republican), Alaska’s republican party is pretty crooked (see Ted Stevens, US Senate).

Still makes little sense.
She has a terrific reputation for fighting corruption, even in her own party. She slammed the door on the “bridge to nowhere” baby of Stevens, and ripped to shreads the wheeling and dealing going on between party leaders and interest groups. She also opposes federal funding for local issues (how may people are willing to face the voters against handouts?)
The more I read, the more I like. I also like the naughty librarian look.

I think he is referring to the eponymous
“Them” grasping at straws in going after her.

Ahhhhhh!
I think I saw an eponymous at the zoo. Yes, that’s it! Of course.
But seriously, I get it now.

Sarah
is a decent person. I am sure Styg knows more than I do but She seems to be all about financial success which is what we currently need to get us out of the hell hole that past presidents (not naming ANY names) have gotten us in. The last time we had a president who cared about the American Dollar IMO was Regan. I think I am WAY too conservative to have good political discussion so I tend to shy away from it especially on MHR because I lean so far right I almost fall over!

She ran her town into debt as mayor
Something close to $2 million for a town of under 10K. She has as much of a successful financial track record as our current president, which does not reassure me at all. (32 more minutes to kill)

You might want to consider how the town appropriates funds and the mayor's...
…role in that system before using that approach. It doesn’t gell.
As for economics, this president inherited a (near) recession, then got hit by an attack on our country. We engaged in two conflicts after that. And still, despite all of that, the economy has endured. (Gas prices, while a pain for consumers, is not an economic indicator. If it were, I’d blame the folks that won’t let us drill or build refineries).
To be truly non-partisan though, part of the problem with our current economy is the excessive spending (republicans in congress).

When the books are settled
inflation is completely accounted for by wasteful government spending. Of course, there is only one right answer, but targeting corruption is a good (and easy) first step towards putting some confidence back into the paper dollar.

In that light...
Palin is the corruption buster, and McCain is the spending hawk. He should be a vetoing machine if elected.

(in fun)
The reason you will be inneffective is because Ron Paul is the republican (really libertarian) version of Dennis Kucinich.

hog wash...Ron Paul is not a radical liberal alien seeking whacko.
I hate that comparison. I know everything about Ron Paul and he is the most honest man in Washington. He stands by his principals of limited government, non interventionist foreign policy, and the Constitution. Kucinich believes in the nanny state, taxes, and socialism. I hate the MSM for what they did to Ron Paul…if only Ron Paul had the charisma of a Ronald Reagan. Instead we get dopey old McCain and his globalist agenda, which means more open borders and less personal freedom.
(in fun) that was a low blow…I gave a lot of my money to Ron Paul just to see him utterly destroyed by the corporate media. There is a reason why I believe the entire system is wholly corrupt…only certain agendas can succeed on the nation stage. Check into it…you will find we have no had an anti-globalist candidate since Reagan. And he was forced to take Bush on as his VP back in 80.
sigh……i hate politics.

I don't get the whole anti-globalist thing.
Reagan was not anti-globalist. In fact, he often sparred with Pat Buchanan, a former Nixon and Reagan staffer (whom I knew personaly before he went off the deep end) on issues dealing with trade and military intervention.
Being anti-free trade is not a republican mantra (thus Paul’s rejection from conservatism), and being anti-interventionism doesn’t buy much favor from the veterans crowd. Fair or not, that Paul’s campaign drew a lot of support from people that think 9/11 was an inside job doesn’t help matters either.
But dismantling virtualy every US cabinet level agency (from the IRS to the CIA) is just plain hokey. Even a pure sales tax (which I endorse) would require an oversight and enforcement agency. The only real argument for a dismantled agency might be education, which is a state function.
The press may be hostile, but when you have as many supporters as the Cardinals have fans, something isn’t right.
