Team Broncos
I've been wondering about a few things, & thought i'd see if anyone else has similar thoughts, or if it's just my own wierd mind? Here are my questions, in no particular order; With the move toward "character" & "team" this offseason, what is the talk like in the locker room, at practice & on the sidelines this year? In my imaginings it's all positive, (especially when compared to last year ), with everybody contributing "good stuff" to each other, keeping the "negative crap" to a minimum & fostering a "team first attitude" that we seem to be witnessing both on & off the field, as evidenced by statements like Daniel Graham made the other nite. By the way, thank you, whoever refferenced that because I get the Arizona Cardinals feed which did not include that great tid-bit.
Next, I wonder if Darrel Hackney could be used as a Goal line back? He seems to have good ball security & handling skills, runs low (for his size) & seems to run with good authority & power. He never seems to go down at first contact, but runs thru a tackle or two! I do understand some of the arguments against ( QB, seldom activated, etc.) But, it's a thought.
Have you noticed how much more "heart" we've played with this pre season? How we're Flowing to the ball on defense, gang tackling etc! I'm LOVING it !!!!! I think this is another manifestation of the attitude being created, as refferenced in the first paragraph, but it's GREAT!!!
Well, this is my first fanpost, & as you can probably tell, organization is not my strong suit, (I had a couple of other thoughts, but don't remember them at the moment), but i'm interested in your thoughts? Thanks for your time, & I think this is THE BEST SITE ON THE INTERNET, PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO BRONCOS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

welcome, and good questions. The swarming defense is great to see, reminds me of the ‘05 D that took us to the AFC Championship. Hackney as a goal-line back is something another member will have to talk about, not really my area of expertise… and I have no idea what’s going on in the locker room due to living in Florida.
And yes, this really is the best website on the Internet.

Using Hackney as a running-throwing back would really keep defenses honest. Having Hackney line up
next to Cutler in a “double barreled shotgun” could be real entertaining. Makes me want to get out my old books on the single wing and the double wing!
For many years I have hoped that we could get a “gadget” player like Hines Ward or Randle-El, the passing options can really keep defenses honest. I never thought of getting a running-throwing back, but what if the Hacker is the chosen one?

I hadn't thought about that, but I love the thought!
That could be very entertaining!

Great job Pmac54!
I have seen teams with great attitude overcome a lot. My head coach used to use a lot of quotes when working with the coordinators, and one gem was “Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard”. It’s true. I think the locker room change is crucial to getting back on a winning track.
I’m a little conservative, and don’t like the Hackney idea much. Yes, he could run in the goal line plays, and there are certainly some guys that would agree that is a solid idea. My thinking though, is that if you are going to throw, you want your best thrower (especialy at goalline). If you are going to run, give the ball to your best runner. Hackney is neither. But like I said, your idea isn’t far out there. I’m sure some coaches would go that route.

Thanks HT!
My thought was more along the lines of when they devised a couple of plays for the Fridge to be a goal line back. I know it probably wouldn’t surprise anybody after the first time, but , I can’t help but think that when we’re 3rd & goal @ the 2 against someone like Jacksonville, that Hackney would be a serious load to keep out of the end zone. The “gem” you reffered to reminds me very much of Matt Lienerts time here in Az. He seemed to think that he didn’t need to work because he came from a program that was touted as being better than some NFL teams (or something?). I think he’s waking up, but for his sake, I hope it’s not too late1 Living in AZ means we mostly get a Cards perspective on everything NFL, so I ordered Direct TV.

Cards Perspective
What is the Cardinals perspective on the Broncos?
Victor Frankl:
What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for some goal worthy of him. What he needs is not the discharge of tension at any cost, but the call of a potential meaning waiting to be fulfilled by him.
Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

The Cardinals announcers were actually reasonably impressed with our second teamers,
They had some good things to say about Cutler, but their focus was on the home team as you would expect. As far as the Cards team goes, I think they’re glad they don’t play us regularly, other than preseason. Nothing I’ve heard officially, but most of the fans I talk to have expressed that.
