Every once in awhile I feel the need to get back to my roots. Today is one of those days. With that in mind, here is a Tuesday edition of Orange and Blue Coffee, with an addition.
At the bottom is a new Feature called "Around The Nation" which will include some links to my favorite stories from around SBNation. Enjoy!
Terry Frei knows that Eddie Royal is an important piece of the Broncos should Brandon Marshall get suspended.
One division rival will miss two top receivers in the first two games and the latest on why there has been a delay in the Brandon Marshall ruling.
One Broncos is making an artistic statement with the artwork on his daily tape job.
Marcus Thomas is feeling great about his fitness level heading into Year 2.
Finally healthy, Andre Hall is beginning to turn heads in Training Camp.
Do you have Sirius?? If so, NFL Radio, Channel 124, will be broadcasting live from Broncos Training Camp from 1-3 PM est.
On small Colorado city has been chosen to compete for the Home of the biggest Broncos fans.

This quote bothered me...
Not only is Thomas better prepared physically, the year’s experience was a teaching tool. He also is benefiting from a switch in defensive philosophy to a more attacking front that suits his skills.“The way the coaches have the scheme set up, I think Marcus and his style of play is actually a better fit than probably I am,” said Robertson, who came to Denver in an offseason trade. “He’s explosive. He can get into the backfield and disrupt plays. He’s perfect for this system.”
The attacking style is reminiscent of Thomas’ college days, when he was responsible for a single gap and instructed to let nothing get by him. And it’s a departure from last season in Jim Bates’ system, when “we didn’t really know what we were” but now are given “a little freedom to attack, make some plays, get off the ball and hit blocks.”
The Jet’s system wasn’t a good fit for Robertson, now our system isn’t a perfect fit for him either? Am I reading too much into this or does it seem like Robertson is just making excuses for more mediocre play???

A bit of both...
I think it was more of a compliment to Thomas than an indictment of what Robertson thinks he can do. He is not a 3-4 NT, so Robertson “struggled” with the Jets last year(though he had, statistically, he best season). It is more a comfort factor. Robertson is going to be looked for to stop the run, clog the middle, and keep linemen off of Webster and D.J. I think he’ll be alot more comfortable in the 4-3 that he is used to than the 3-4.

My thought exactly
I dont know why the Jets ever though he could play in a 3-4. I thought it was a bad idea from the start. Their mistake hopefully should ne Denvers gain

Okay, I went back and watch the actual interview on video
and I am not as concerned as before. Robertson was just laid back and answering questions honestly. He wasn’t making excuses for anything…
As is my way, I overreacted. ;)

Think you are over thinking
Robertson is a southern raised, so I am sure he doesn’t want to boast or speak ill of others, I think he is trying to stay humble and will be what we expect come the regular season, a 40 to 50 tackles, 3 to 5 sacks, and someone who can hold up the middle of the line, Thomas has more speed and has the possibility of a higher sack total (I am guessing 6 to 8), which would be great for the D-line.

does anyone know
why Champ was out of pads this morning?

I love how Marshall is already suspended
according to ESPN, NFL Network, SI.com. He isn’t suspended. As far as the one report goes, wouldn’t it either be that source making up the suspension or Goodell himself leaking the suspension? That just wouldn’t make sense to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if Goodell goes against the report just out of spite.

Well...
for NFL network to report that on air and the other networks to take it a face value, I’m guessing the source is pretty reliable. But it does reflect poorly that the league and comish have thinks this poorly managed.

I would like Royal
to have a good first game like Upchurch. However Upchurch did not have any Punt return TD’s in 1975. He had the 4 in 1976. Another reason why the print media is dying. They cant even do simple research. Shame. I hope Royal has 5 of 6 Punt return Td’s this year

If Royal has 4-5 TDs on returns this year then I would take an extra step and
say he is our best returner since Upchurch. I am not going to knight him as so until I see those 4-5 TDs. ;)

I live in California…those women over there are a dime a dozen down here…and most of ‘em are brain dead. I want TDs!

Hall
One of the stories that deserves attention but hasn’t received much is Hall’s progress.
I’ve had my doubts about Hall, but I’m happy to say that I’ve changed my mind (at least temporarily) based on the reports I’ve seen.
Just wondering if a 4-back rotation (5 including Pittman) with #1-Young, #2-Hall, #3-Torain, #4-Alridge is a possibility. Also, FB: #1-Hillis, #2-Pittman. I’m loath to give up on Alridge at this point, because I just love the idea of one scatback in the mix (perhaps too much), but I’m realistic, too
