Feeling Left Out?? NFL Creates Conduct Policy For You!
The NFL and all 32 of its clubs have created a fan code of conduct to help promote a positive fan environment at all NFL stadiums, it was announced today. While the Denver Broncos have had a fan code of conduct in place since 1999, the league has mandated that this information be reiterated.
The fan code of conduct is designed to set clear fan expectations and encourage a stadium environment that is enjoyable for all fans. Teams may add additional provisions to the standard code based on local circumstances or preferences. Each team will communicate its code of conduct during the preseason to season-ticket holders and fans through mailings, online, and in-stadium signage, and other messages.
"The in-stadium experience is critically important to the NFL, our clubs and our fans and it will be a major focus this season," said NFL Commissioner ROGER GOODELL. "We are committed to improving the fan experience in every way we can -- from the time fans arrive in the parking lot to when they depart the stadium. We want everyone to be able to come to our stadiums and enjoy the entire day."
The code of conduct is intended to address behavior that detracts from the gameday experience. Any fan in violation of these provisions will be subject to ejection without refund and loss of ticket privileges for future games.
In addition to the fan code of conduct, the NFL and its clubs will evaluate fan feedback and existing programs to ensure their effectiveness and shape the development of new programs.
These measures are designed to build on the many outstanding programs already in place at NFL stadiums to enhance the fan experience.
FAN CODE OF CONDUCT
"The National Football League and its teams are committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all fans, both in the stadium and in the parking lot. We want all fans attending our games to enjoy the experience in a responsible fashion. When attending a game, you are required to refrain from the following behaviors:
• Behavior that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal in nature
• Intoxication or other signs of alcohol impairment that results in irresponsible behavior
• Foul or abusive language or obscene gestures
• Interference with the progress of the game (including throwing objects onto the field)
• Failing to follow instructions of stadium personnel
• Verbal or physical harassment of opposing team fans
• Smoking, except in designated areas
• Fighting
• Indecent exposure or undressing
• Wearing obscene or indecent clothing (such persons will not be allowed into the
stadium)
• Conduct that endangers spectators or participants
• Indecent exposure or undressing
• Ethnic intimidation
"Event patrons are responsible for their conduct as well as the conduct of their guests and/or persons occupying their seats. Stadium staff will promptly intervene to support an environment where event patrons, their guests, and other fans can enjoy the event free from the above behavior. Event patrons and guests who violate these provisions will be subject to ejection without refund and loss of ticket privileges for future games."

I’m not sure I approve of the ban on exposure, undressing, and indecent clothing. I mean, this would ban “F*CK DA EAGLES” girl, and where would we be without her?
Possibly also the Packers Bikini Girls could get into trouble.
I’m also predicting a lot of empty seats in Oakland, but that’s not so much a bad thing.

If that is the policy since 1999, it is loosely enforced.
When the wife and I went to the Bronco/Seachicken game, all I heard was loads of profanities and there was no staff to enforce it. I won’t take a kid there until they are at least in high school.

I wonder if I can wave this piece of paper in front of the raider fans I will
surely run into on Sept. 8th. What do you think they’ll do? I see at least 5 items on that list that I will have to suffer through during the course of the game no doubt….so long as they don’t try to light me on fire and throw me onto the field of play. ;)

Zappa
I saw 8 things on there that I personally planned to do to you in Sept. No, seriously you will be fine. Understand you are hanging out with Saint at his tailgate for a while. If you make it by the RV lot I would be happy to hand over a cold one and a snack but only if you are wearing that “lucky number seven.”

wow...
The nfl must really hate “Indecent exposure or undressing”, as it is there twice!
Remember: New England won 18 last year; Oakland's won 19 in a half-decade

Too many ugly drunk guys running naked across the field of play....
if it were hot drunk chicks committing the crime then I doubt there would be two rules against it. lol

Good move.
There are some places I would take my daughter to see a game, and some venues that I wouldn’t. A family should be able to take in a game anywhere.

grounds should be family friendly
You certainly shouldn’t be afraid to take your family to any grounds. I don’t know how bad the atmosphere at an NFL game is between rival fans and I’m sure some are worse than others. There are certainly some football grounds I wouldn’t want to take a young family to in England but there are plenty that are fine and things are improving all the time, there are certainly more women at games these days. Thankfully alcohol is banned in the stands over here but that doesn’t of course preclude fans from getting tanked up in the pubs before a match.
I would take issue with the no swearing though, I’m a season ticket holder for a premier league team in England and if the FA tried to get fans to sign up to a no profanity code there would be nobody in the stadiums. Ripping it in to opposition fans and calling your own players something you wouldn’t say in front of your Grandma is all part of the experience
For the most part as long as you aren’t racist and you’re not smoking, you’re ok!

I hear the hooligans are pretty bad..
..in the European football (soccer) games.
Here it doesn’t decend into rioting behavior. But some stadiums have reputations for being friendly, while others can be very antagonistic.

its better
We don’t have much in he way of hooliganism these days in England, the old ‘firms’ are dying out some would say because people have grown out of it but also because its more expensive to go to games meaning the fanbase at the ground is different to the traditional white working class, more importantly the policing is so much better and the detterant is there. You get more trouble from people away from grounds in town centres then at matches in this country
Hooliganism is a big problem still in the old Eastern Bloc countries, a lot of neo-Nazi elements infiltrate at games there. A pal of mine has been all around Europe watching matches and he felt the least safe in Poland.

Thanks for the lesson!
I’m afraid that the same trend (fanbase changing because of prices) is a problem in the colonies as well. That’s a major issue with the new Broncos stadium and prices. We used to have a loud stadium (which disrupts the opposing offense when using the snap count or an audible), but the effect has been diminsished.
My wife and I would love to get to England sometime. If I get there, I’m hoping you could introduce me to the local drinks and teach me a thing or two about “real” football. (If we go to Poland, I hope you’ll leave our itinerary with the 22nd SAS in case we run into hooligans).

Sorry, hit instead of
As I was saying, up until last year, I didn’t have a problem going to see the Broncos in San Diego, but last year, I saw (and heard) many of the offenses listed (though no undressing, it was Christmas Eve in San Diego, so it was a little nippy for the locals).
In years past I’ve had no problems, but that may be because there were more Broncos fans than chargers fans.

Giggles...
How is it that the conduct policy for the fans is more detailed and makes more sense then the actual player conduct code. I guess in a way we are representing the league as well if we are shown on television at a game.

And...
I can’t wait for the first time the one guy who has been a fan for 15 years get arrested for being drunk and fighting and gets thrown in the drunk tank… I expect he will get a warning from the league. While the guy who has been a fan for 2 years has some corn rows had a glass of wine and pushed a guy gets a permanent life ban!

how can you tell who has been a fan for 15 years and who has been one for 2 years?

Roger Almighty
Yes, with Roger Almighty as the judge and jury, there will be no consistent application of these rules. There will not even be consistent interpretation of these rules. I mean who defines “unruly?” Roger’s wife Jane Skinner? No it will be who ever calls security on you. So if you want to be loud and zealous, or even stand up a lot, you might want to bring a recorder to document and protect yourself from false accusations. But wait, innocence won’t matter, convictions won’t matter, by virtue of you buying a ticket you in essence agree to give away all your rights of fair interpretation or representation. Lets see – yell and scream with zeal, and risk a neighboring fan and stadium security banning you for life, or stay seated, smile, and clap politely? Football is turning into friggin ballet! But hey, now that they are’nt allowed to play that obnoxious music anymore either, now we can all enjoy some wine and cheese.
I would love to see a local radio station lease or buy a neighboring property to the stadium to show the game big screen, while allowing and encouraging all the group chants possible. What is Roger Almighty going to try to dictate to private land owners too? Gee, enjoy this while you can. Won’t be long and Roger Almighty will secure rights to all conversations regarding the NFL, so we won’t even be able to blog criticism.

Goodell and the League...
...don’t have the opportunity to be inconsistent. All they are doing is sending the message to the teams, and the teams are responsible for enforcement.
I know you don’t like Goodell, but dude, I’m beginning to think you were molested by him as a child. I can feel the hate! : )
