Texas Two Step

With all the talk of injured running backs who is going to be great let's take a fun little look at the guy who has to this point been the clear leader for the spot Selvin Young.  Texas Longhorn running backs have been a successful crew over the years.  Here is a little comparison of a few we should all be familiar with.  On the left is the starter at Texas and on the right is the backup or at least for a good chunk of their career the two overlapped.  Interesting to see the difference between the college careers and the pro careers...Holmes certainly made a better career for himself than his Texas teamate and it will be interesting to see if the parallels continue with current Bronco Selvin Young.

Seems like RBs only have alimited amount of carries in them

So when they get pounded on in college, they don’t have that much in the tank for the Pros. Also, when guys get 400+ carries for a season, they seem to really take a hit to their production/health the next couple of years.

It's just another reason why

the career of Floyd Little was so impressive and why he belongs in the hof.

I agree.

He returned punts and kicks too…no star RB pulls that kind of duty in todays league.

Floyd Little

Roger that. And his last paly ever was a thing of beauty. I’ve often pondered who was the better Bronco RB – Little or TD?

I'll take Priest Holmes like production out of Young...

If SY

would not have had injury problems Cedric Benson would not have been the starter in 2004

so...

you mean to tell me that Selvin Young was going to walk in and unseat a three time 1000 yard rusher who was already the 3rd leading rusher in school history and a returning starter when said player was headed into his senior season and the only reason it didn’t happen was because of injury problems…I don’t think so. Maybe he plays more but I’ve got to believe at that point Cedric Benson was a well established starter.

Either way it doesn't matter....we got the better running back for far less money! :D

SY

got hurt in spring practices He was a better RB, plus he was VY’s choice to be at RB. And we all know that Mack Brown would do whatever made VY happy. But he got hurt and Benson had a great season. Remeber Benson has always been a headcase and was wearing thin on teammated. Not too mention he was 4 star recruit out of the state of Texas who turned down OU and CU. If he didnt get hurt so much. We may disagree on semantics but I believe he would have been a #1 draft pick if wasnt for injuries. Plus he was on the NAtl title team that beat USC. Even though VY didnt score on that last run.

See! I told you guys! Selvin--2000 yards this year! Do the Math.......

of course math is a little different in the ‘la-la-land-of-pre-season-feel-goods’.
