Week 2 NFL Power Rankings -- Around the Web
I can't tell you that these "major media" entities are staffed by a bunch of monkeys, but it feels good to see that at least a couple of them are starting to wise up to the Broncos. ESPN is the most ludicrous as they have 0-1 Seattle ranked ahead of the Broncos after getting blown out by the Bills. Absurd! They can't keep San Diego out of the Top 3 even though they lost to the Panthers. Absurd!
Ok, so let's take a look at some of the alternative websites out there. I've gotta believe the monkeys stay out of the places that don't pay well.
I feel I need to have a moment of objectivity and just average all of these scores out. Our official ranking is (drum roll) 14.17, so we'll round it down to 14 even. 14 out of 32, better than the 20-21 ranking we had last week. A win this week will most certainly put us into the top 10 in most of the above rankings. Not that I care all that much...what I really want is to BEAT THE CHARGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alternative website
Went to a site that had the Broncos ranked #28 and the raiders #26 AFTER the Monday night game. I posted about it.
I think that we can discard that outlier.

i saw it, which is why i didn't include it.
That website is actually run by a monkey. I was only referring to the above sites figuratively when mentioning the monkeys. The one you found is actually a monkey. He is named Al Davis.

Funny that even Davis has realized that the Raiders stink.
Ranking his own team #26. lol

MNF
I thought is was the Monday Night Football crew doing another critique.

Good News
The “power ranking” that had Broncos at #28 and raiders at #26 is gone. Perhaps all the comments from the MHR crew made him crawl somewhere and hide.

The site was americansportsviews
The “americansportsviews” site has the Broncos ranked below the raiders at #28 as of September 9th. Don’t know what they are thinking!

Keep them at 22!
I wouldn’t mind the team sneaking up on the rest of the NFL but when you have a rookie being a loudmouth with his play on Monday night it may be hard.
I think some people saw that game as Denver beating up on a bad Raiders team but I think the Raiders are better this year and last year they gave Denver more trouble than the Steelers and Titans (both playoff teams).
I won’t be disappointed if the Broncos don’t beat SD Sunday as long as they compete. They are on the rise with a bunch of young guys and the Chargers may have peeked as a team last year.

What rookie loudmouth?
I don’t remember Eddie Royal being a loudmouth. In his interview right after the game, he seemed genuinely excited, but it’s not like he was calling anyone out.
JC was calling out MeAngelo Fall, though.

I misread that wrong too
I had to reread it about six times, since I know HB wouldn’t say anything like that.
He is saying that Eddie’s play was loudmouthed….

One thing to consider
A good power poll, in my opinion, doesn’t sky rocket a team based on one game. I think the Broncos should be much higher, but a team shouldn’t race up and down the polls from game to game.

I agree...which is why I voted 14th.
I think we’re on the cusp of a Top 10 team, a victory over the Chargers and we have to be in the Top 10.

A victory over the Chargers and we're a top 5 team.
I’d put us right about where Dr. Z has us. We have proven that we can get it done against the Raiders, but we first need to compete with a top tier team before we can be considered one.
1-0.

But then Bill "Porkchop" Williamson
will still keep saying things like
The Chargers are too good to keep squandering games in the first month.
and continue to rank them higher than the Broncos

Early rankings
They are only worthwhile as a vehicle for making intelligent observations about the team. For example, I’d rate the Steelers higher than I would have two weeks ago, because I had concerns about their O line. But the way they crushed the Texans, who have a good D line, said a lot. Forget about the number until October.

That said:
I agree with Zappa about the monkey web site, ranking the Raiders above the Broncos. You’ve heard about the philosophical argument as to whether, if you had an infinite number of monkeys pecking away at typewriters, would they eventually re write all of Shakespeare? That site is one of those monkeys.

I heard a great counter argument in a philosophy class.
Taking the story about an infinite number of monkeys at an infinite number of typewriters over an infinite time…
The prof said that another line of thought is that this is clever, but proves nothing. Why? Have you ever seen a monkey at a typewriter? They’re more likley to poop on it than to use it. They won’t change the paper, and even if paper weren’t a requirement, well, it just won’t happen, even with all of the infinitum variables. Which leads to the counter proposition that some things truly are impossible.

BTW,
I agree with you. I think this guy spend more time pooping on his typewriter than using it correctly. : )
