The refs in your pockets?
WOW, How much have bad calls helped the Broncos today, and not even through the 2nd quarter. That was no facemask before the TD toss by Cutler.
And to give you that turnover when he was clearly down? I have never heard of a time rule on broken machinery to give a win to a team. I mean unless the Broncs blow out the chargers this game I'm gonna say the refs won this game for you!

if your team just lost to the raiders
wouldn’t you be in a state of denial too?

You know what? I take that back a little bit.
I’m sending Ed Hochuli a hooker. lol jk.
The officiating was pretty bad, but there were calls that should have gone against them, too. As in any game, there’s that one bad call that makes it look like the refs are for one team, but they are professionals, and Ed Hochuli is the best of ’em.
And look at it this way: it’s a win-win. We get the victory, and Chargers fans have something to complain about. Everybody’s happy!
2-0.

I believe Hochuli lives in La Jolla. He's your ref bro. San Diego resident and tax payer.
Michael Fabiano really knows nothing about football outside of regression analysis and stat extrapolation. If it doesn’t have to do with fantasy football, his opinion is worthless.

Considering he posted this very early, I bet he's really upset now.
by nburns on Sep 14, 2008 5:45 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
I bet he blew a fuse on that call at the end.
I was watching the game with a Charger buddy of mine and he was totally pissed when that late play was ruled incomplete instead of a fumble because the ref blew the play dead.

Gee...how many non calls did the Chargers get away with?
I saw one blatant block in the back of Champ on one play..

Hope your happy
because the broncos don’t deserve this win

no need for that
we know those two calls sucked. But that is the way it is. SD proved what they needed to prove on the field. Now we have the division lead and they need to get it back. Everyone needs to move on. Its too early to be bitter.

Depends on what you mean
The Broncos may not have deserved the TD at the end, but they were certainly the better team over the course of the game.

From a former HS coach.
There were bad calls both ways. This happens every game. Teams also deal with key injuries.
A win is a win, a loss is a loss. I don’t blame refs when I lose, and I don’t thank them for wins. They’re a part of the game, like it or not.
Bottom line: The NFL determines who earned the win, and who didn’t. If you don’t like it, maybe sports are a little too much for you to handle. Denver won this game, despite bad calls both ways. By the way, the NFL manages the equiptment, not Denver, and the time requirement remains the same. They aren’t going to spend an hour repairing the equiptment. If you don’t like the rules, too bad.
Your team is 0-2. Ours is 2-0. Whining won’t change it. If your team has men on it, they’ll deal with it and move on. Given River’s behavior last year, I imagine they’ll handle it as bad as some SD fans are (all 3 of them), and continue to sputter out.

As always, eloquently put, HT.
Teams deal with adversity every day. It’s how you handle adversity that determines what type of team you are.
And please stop taking it out on us. We didn’t do anything, nor can we change anything. Like I said in a post on BFTB, if you have a problem with the officiating, write a letter to the league.
2-0.

DaBolts
I feel that DaBolts is a class act. He has posted on MHR and now runs the Charger site. I hope the Chargers get more fans like him. Because DaBolts has been classy, I will give the Charger fan base the benefit of the doubt in regard to behavior.

actually,
actually my team, the Bills, is 2-0 I have just always enjoyed watching the chargers and their players and rooted for them. I was just angry that they lost because of a stupid call. It was a good game and the broncos look very good this year and I cant wait for the week 16 game in mile high. Sorry for taking this a little too far

understand the call.
Should the chargers of gotten the fumble? absolutley, but since the refs had blown the play dead before the recovery because they thought it was just an incomplete pass, it had to be placed and given to the original team because since the play was called dead it didn’t give the team to try and recover the ball.
As crappy as it was, it happened. So please… enough with the not deserving the wind.. calls go both ways…

It's too bad...
but… Hochuli made the correct call. It should have been a fumble recovered by San Diego, but those are the breaks. Sometimes they go for you and sometimes they go against you.
The point is… the Broncos capitalized on their good fortune. They scored the TD, and also the 2pt conversion, and won the game. It was a lucky break, but a win is a win… I feel like it would be more of an issue if the Broncos won in OT, but they gave the Chargers a chance to win it in regulation – all they had to do was stop a 2pt conversion attempt. The call may have sucked, but that doesn’t excuse the Chargers from having to defend; if they had stopped the Broncos it would have been a non-issue.

I was at a bar and grill
there was me, my wife and my daughter with maybe 10 other Bronco fans…There were about 30 Charger fans there, heckling us towards the end of the game…Once River’s ball was deflected to end the game, the place cleared of charger fans. Kinda like when you shine a light in the alley and all the cockroaches flee. It was a funny sight! Vindication is awesome!!!
