Around SBN: Ray Allen Fighting Age, Injury And His New Role

The Broncos on Tuesday traded Colbert, a wide receiver who signed with the team in March, to Seattle for a fifth- round pick in the 2009 draft. The pick can be upgraded to a fourth-round pick, depending on how much Colbert plays in Seattle.

I have to say...

that deal looks real good now…that’s what you have to do when a desperate team comes calling

Wow, I totally missed

That D-Jack was on the shelf for the Chargers game and is out for a couple weeks. So Russel’s our #4 guy now?

I’d say there are decent odds of the pick being upgraded to a 4th. Were it not for Royal’s outstanding preseason, Colbert would have been the #2 starter here in Denver. He seems like a likely candidate to fill one of the many holes in Seattle. Even if Denver gets a 4th, this is probably a win-win-win trade (win for Denver for draft ammunition; win for Seattle to actually have a receiver; win for Colbert for a suddenly improved shot at playing time).

Granted, it was a trade borne out of a horrid situation in Seattle, but it’s still a trade where everybody should walk away happy. Those are the best, and Seattle should remain a viable trading partner in the future.

this trade

makes up for the foxworth trade in my mind. i felt that we got the short end of the stick on that one, but i feel like we are getting more than we should be for Colbert. i’m glad to see that we are at least breaking even.

I agree

Colbert showed little or nothing while at Carolina. Ditto in Denver. I think Seattle made a huge blunder – they should have grabbed Glenn Martinez or Clifford Russell for free.

It's just as Guru said during the MHR radio the week of the Foxworth trade...

it’s all about leverage

the Foxy trade also makes you wonder if Foxy even had any trade value.

That trade is telling by how little we got for him. We saw Paymah get burned too and he was the better of the two. lol

great trade

now this was a smart move, and great value. i guess he’s not eddie mac and rod smith all rolled into 1, after all. like i didn’t already know that. what was that all about? i forgot about the d-rob pick, let’s hope that turns out to be on the low side. or should i be hoping for a high pick to the jets, meaning he is playing extremely well? hmm. playing well in limited snaps, that’s it!

From NFLN Crawler this morning
Adam Shefter reports that Broncos trade conditional 4th or 5th round pick to Seahawks for Keary Colbert

It’s amazing what goes on with all the crawlers on the various news stations. I’ve lost count of how many typos I’ve seen on the Fox and CNN news crawlers. Is it really that difficult to edit a single sentence and get the facts straight?
