Marshall Facing Charges In Georgia
This is not new, just an update on a previous incident --
The solicitor's office filed misdemeanor battery charges on September 10th of this year for an alleged incident on March 4th, 2008 in Atlanta.
The key word is "MISDEMEANOR". Perhaps Marshall should be charged with assaulting the Chargers secondary, they are the ones B-Marsh really abused. Time for everyone to MOVE ON!!!
Of course, the fine folks at ProFootballTalk have no problem digging it up. I won't even give Florio the benefit of a link.

Wow
When I read the first few lines of this on Deadspin, I thought something new had surfaced. Then I read “March 4”, and my reaction was WTF. I realize that a guy like Florio is not as tuned in to the situation as MHR readers, but do a little research and insert a caveat into the post stating the incident is not new. I imagine there are some concerned Bronco fans out there, especially since mainstream blogs like DS linked to the story.

PFT is the National Enquirer of Football sites
Mike Florrio the PFT Editor, has a strong dislike for the Broncos. He loves digging up anything he can on Denver so he can up the tally on what they call the “turd watch”. Unfortunately, this site is where many rumors start around the league. Denver is not his only target, but one of his favorites.

Crimes get divided up
into “serious” and “less serious”. Felony is serious, misdemeanors are less serious.
Legally this has at leat the following results (that I know of)
Misdemeanors tend to have short sentences.
Misdemenaors committed before a person turns 18 are expunged (removed) from their record when they turn 18, so there is no further ramifications after that point.

Sports Illustrated’s website posted this, too. It’s just a reference to PFT and some other website as well.

Look, I want this to be over but..
Making light of domestic violence is not a good way of supporting B. Marshall, we all know about this case, and I will not sit here and proclaim B. Marshall’s guilt or innocence since I was not there, I understand that this will be news to certain segments of the public and not to most vested Bronco fans, but when we try to say “Marshall should be charged with assaulting the Chargers secondary” it make light of something that is a serious issue, regardless of what really happened in Atlanta. Us trying to be angry for some site reporting it really isn’t going to do any good and us trying to say well it was his crazy girlfriend and not him, is being irresponsible since none of us were there. But since he is getting charged, it looks like the police do think something happened, else they wouldn’t waste time trying to charge someone they didn’t think they could convict. My hope is that this get’s resolved fairly, Marshall learns from this to become a better person.

Hey...
I’m with you…I have been as hard on B-Marsh as anyone, look it up. I definitely won’t proclaim him to be innocent, that’s for sure, and I have said many times that he is guilty of making bad decisions at the least. Perhaps it is the timing of all this that bothers me, and of course, the way it is handled by Florio and CompleteColorado….
I apologize if you think I was making light, but this woman is bad news, period.

I don't take offense
I just don’t want people to assume one thing or another, there are usally three sides to a story, his side, her side, and what happened. I just don’t like that we all have come to the conclusion that this women is bad news, she may be, she may not be, but unless we personnelly know her and were there, we probably shouldn’t be passing any judgement.
I will relate the following story as an example, the parents of my god-daughter I had known for 10 (father) and 6 (mother) years. The father was a close friend of mine and both of the parents were in my wedding. They got a divorce about a year after their daughter was born, when they got their divorce, my good friend (the father) kept telling me that his wife was crazy, paranoid, and abusive, when we had been to their house, she had always been nice to me but had been very argumentative to her husband and would fight with him (verbally) sometimes. So I tended to believe the husband, it soon came out that he was having an affair (something he denied at first, but then later admitted to me), then come to find out he had been beating her and abusing her for over three years (he admited to me after about 6 months of their divorce when he was seeking to reconcil), the point being, you can use all the logic and insight, but unless you are there then we really don’t know what happened.

Six months to file misdemeanor charges?
Says to me something strange is going on. Sometimes it takes awhile to get lab tests done, or something like that, but that sort of thing would be unusual in a misdemeanor case. Wait and see, I guess.

All forms of media are having a field day with this....
This sets back Brandon Marshall(and the Broncos) a step or two, even it is old news because it just won’t die. It’s going to take a couple of season with a clean record and continued great play before the stories of “Brandon Marshall turns career and life around” come out. Hopefully those stories come.

Good news out of bad news
“KFFL has learned Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall isn’t expected to face a suspension for his recent misdemeanor battery charges because the league was aware there was a chance he would be charged before he was suspended one game earlier this year.” -yahoo player news, from KFFL

Found it interesting on NFL Live
Mark Schlereth reported that the guy in the Commissioners office Agielo or something like that has said if he is found guilty he could fact additional suspension…Schlereth sees this as unlikely but not out of the question
