Mike Shanahan Named Coach of the Week
Head coach MIKE SHANAHAN of the Denver Broncos is the MOTOROLA NFL COACH OF THE WEEK for games played on September 14-15, the NFL announced today.
Mike Shanahan led a Denver Broncos team that stunned the San Diego Chargers in a last-minute 39-38 victory. The Broncos offense gained a total 486 yards led by QB Jay Cutler who passed for a career-best 350 yards and four touchdowns. WR Brandon Marshall was Cutler's favorite target completing 18 receptions for 166 yards and one touchdown. With the Broncos down by one, following Cutler's final touchdown completion to rookie WR Eddie Royal, Shanahan went for the two-point conversion. Cutler hit Royal over the middle to seal the victory. The Broncos defense forced one turnover and limited the Chargers to just 80 rushing yards.
Shanahan was selected as Motorola NFL Coach of the Week from among three finalists by voters on NFL.com. The other finalists were head coaches DICK JAURON of the Buffalo Bills and JIM ZORN of the Washington Redskins.

you wont believe
some of the crap I heard this week about Mike. A thought around here is Shanny went for 2 so that if Denver didnt convert, Sd would have gotten the win. That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. Shanny went for 2 to win it, not for anyone else. Are people really that dumb?

I can only imagine how San Diegans are behaving right now...
it’s like someone raped and pillaged their homeland or something….

ohhhh yea
I felt the brunt of it last night. But most of the “fans” are not real courageous until they have had a few pops of alcohol. Losers

A couple of Charger fans
came up to me at work saying that we got lucky because of those two calls (Champ’s INT and “the non-fumble”). After I gave my explanation on both of those calls and the fact that SD got beat on the same play on back-top-back plays they didn’t really have much to say anymore.

All in all,
Denver realistically could not have won without the blown call. The Chargers had recovered – a sequence that would have occurred even if the whistle had been blown. But that is not the same as saying that the Chargers would not have lost but for the blown call. Denver’s victory did rely (in part) on the mistake, but the Chargers’ loss did not.
In a strange sense, both teams really should walk away from that one realizing that there are things they need to fix if they plan on winning.

Happy for Shanny
He takes a lot of heat and I’m happy that it appears he’s found his groove again. The organization is building the team the right way and I look forward to rooting for him and our Broncos as they ascend back to greatness!
I wish Woody Paige was our coach!

Because of work I missed the entire game (against SD) except the two point conversion...and didn't see the finish.
I have been spending my free time, this week, watching highlights………….over and over.
I don’t want it so close—but I would like to see another shoot-out this weekend. Maybe 49—31 Broncos.
Once a shoot-out starts it is hard for defenses to catch their breath. Brees is a great QB and will keep his team within range. This will let our offense get used to going full-bore, our defense to grow and meld, and keep me in la-la-land.
