Lane Kiffin rumored to be fired, again
So both Chris Mortensen of ESPN and Jay Glazer of Fox Sports are reporting that Al Davis has decided to fire Lane Kiffin. While this set of reports is a bit more ominous than the last (they say that Kiffin has been informed of the decision), there are two reasons I will wait to see it to believe it. One is that this was a tough loss for the Raiders and it is a case where sleeping on it may actually calm Davis down from an emotional overreaction (aka pulling a Steinbrenner). The other is that I don't see Davis firing Kiffin at all this season unless he thinks he can get away with not paying the rest of Kiffin's contract. Who knows, maybe Kiffin gave Davis the out he needed with his comments the last couple weeks (ala Larry Brown with the Knicks).

Was Davis just waiting for a loss?
did he think he’d look any worse dragging out the inevitable a week longer? And a 1 point loss to the Bills really isn’t firing quality work.
13-3? why not 16-0!?!

Al has completely lost it...
Here’s to another 5 years of complete insignificance for the Raiders…

I am guessing he waits until their bye week, next week
We all new this was coming and Kifin I am sure just wants it done sooner than later so he can get on with getting a better job.
And I am sure they will get some Raider retread to man the post, and they will tank again.
Thank you Al Davis, you are the best thing going for the AFC West!

Kiffin's Contract
Pretty sure the Raiders will have to pay Kiffin if he’s fired – that’s why Davis wanted him to resign, and that’s why Kiffin refused. It may be that if Kiffin takes another job, any salary he makes there will be deducted from what the Raiders have to pay him. So, wouldn’t it be fun if the Broncos hire him for a dollar a week?

Pretty Sure
that Shanahan’s contract would have said the same thing and look where that got him!
Wouldn’t it be sweet for us to hire Kiffin as OC. Just imagine the fun we could have at Darth Davis’ expense with two firees working together to continue to smack him down!

That would be sweat, I would hire him in the scouting department though.
I think with his ties to the college game, he might make a great head of scouting for a couple of years, he obviously knew that the free agent signings were junk by the Raiders.

From what I heave read
He is going to try and use the insuborantion ploy on him so he dont have to pay. This is stemming from Kiffin talking out about Davis and Ryan discussing defense and things of that nature. Al is clown and I could not be happier

All this does is assure that Raiders will have a horrible coach forever
No coach in their right mind is going to want to go an coach for Davis, unless Davis pays him $4 million a year and that is paid in advance. Davis is a joke, theere was a great artical on Yahoo about how Davis has been ruining his franchise by trying to stroke and fuel his ego.

I think that it'd be great
if he couldn’t get a coach. He’s going to have to pay someone top dollars for just 1-2 seasons, fire em, and start over.

Makes you wonder
if Kiffin was trying to get fired by not using any of his 2 timeouts at the end of regulation when it looked obvious that the Bills were going to get the lead with the field goal.
If nothing else, it would have given him time to pull another Jamakeus Fail to Higgins out of his……hat. Or, at least get into range for SeaBass to take the win.
Seemed pretty obvious to me that he had no intention of winning that game so that he could be fired.

I for one am not tired of this story at all
Every week increases the uncertainty within the team, making them worse than they already are. Every week Al has to pay Kiffin, which we all know he wouldn’t if he fired Kiffin, so there is even less money in Al’s pockets. And finally it means that we will keep getting to read articles about just how bad of a job Al is doing.

Love one of the users comments in that story
and I quote:

That's my guess
They have a bye the following week, so Davis will drop the axe on him then.

How can Kiffin possibly be an effective coach if he doesn’t even know if he’ll be the coach tomorrow? With all of the planning and preparation that coaching requires, it’s gotta be hard to go in and study opponents on tape when you don’t even know you’ll get the chance to coach against them.
Kiffin won’t get any chance to succeed, no matter how good of a coach he is. Every morning, when he meets with the team, the look in everybody’s eyes must ask: “Are you still our coach?” It’s the biggest fiasco in the best-run sports league right now.
But hey, it makes things easier for the Broncos to win the division! Now if they’d just beat the Chargers once…

Shanny lasted four games into his second season
so we’ll see if he will last that long. If he doesn’t then out goes yet another good coach. It is intersting because I remember seeing a clip of Shanahan answering a question about this.
Al Davis is a moron, which everybody knows, and his team can’t get better if he is constantly having battles with his coaches.
Davis, please keep this up so Denver won’t have to worry about you Raiders for quite a bit longer.

After the week 2 rumors of his firing
Shanny made some comment about him outlasting Kiffin, but that Kiffin hadn’t been fired yet so Kiffin could still outlast Shanny.
Pretty out of character for Shanny to say something like that, but I’m sure it just goes to the extreme hatred that he has for Evil Al.
