Defensive Test

Alright, we are 3-0 everybody is jumping for joy, right?
No? Well why not?
Because we have given up about 1000 yards and 70 points last week says Bill Williamson.

As he points out we are going to be playing the Chiefs next week which should make our defense look good, even if just for one week. Looking at the NFL Standings page, you can see that the Chiefs are a mediocre offense at best, scoring only 32 points in three games, while allowing only a few less points (78) than we have (84).

What this means is that if we allow 30+ points to them then we are in for a long season, but if we can shut them down then there is some hope. As it stands now we give up more points than any other team in the AFC and only two teams in the NFL (Lions and Rams) have given up more points, both of them are 0-3. However, we are near the top of the league in Net Points (30).

Defense

It was nice to see Toro-Toro and Jason Elam squad kick last year. That said, I was hoping to avoid most of the close calls this year with Slo and the defense improvement. We should do better next week against KC. If not, I may begin to worry.

Victor Frankl:

What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for some goal worthy of him. What he needs is not the discharge of tension at any cost, but the call of a potential meaning waiting to be fulfilled by him.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

dbronc I agree

We need to really stuff KC or we may be in for a long season.

The best defense is a good offense!
I hope.

I am not worried about KC

They played a rebuilding Falcon team and looked horrid, so if we don’t blow them out I will be surprised. The New Orleans game obviously was a scrae for this team and I think we will be focused for a division rival.

These are the kinds of games that become TRAP games though.....

I hate these ones…supposedly easy, but the difference between 14-2 and Super bowl and 1-15 and the first round pick really is inches(well feet between the worst and the best, but inches inbetween). I really do hate this next game coming up….I shall hope for the best!

we are also an inch away from being 1-2

but closer to being 4-0! if tyler thigpen puts up even 20 on us, we should be ashamed. our d looked like world-beaters in the k.c. home game last season, i would expect that to continue. a 2-0-9 allignment should do it

Worried about KC

I am not worried about them specifically, but i am more worried about what they represent. That being a very weak offense and if they can score at will then we have huge problems. We arent going to score 30+ every week i dont think and we are going to need to be able to win 10-7, 14-10, etc. games.

Go Broncos!

Thats getting thin

I am really getting tired Denver is so close to being 1-2, guess what they are not. Every single team gets some sort of luck during a season. Its a bunch of crap to say otherwise. A favorable spot a non-call. Bottom line is this team is 3-0 and are playing awesome offense. The defense while giving up a ton of yards still made stops when it needed to. To think otherwise is foolish. I can be the first to admit when things look bleak. But NO and SD are great offensive teams, yet people here tend to FORGET that.
The neagtivity is apalling. If you want to dwell on what went wrong, fine but do not forget what went right

ok, what went right:

1. brees fumbles the snap at the 1
2. doom is not called offsides on 3rd-1, giving us a chance
3. webster makes 2 goal-line stops and scores a td!
4. semi-automatica misses his first two field goals as a saint
5. we win, somehow, again

admitting luck in the last 2 games isn’t a sign of negativity, it is an admission of the need to put teams away, or face future losses. we all want this team to not only make the playoffs, but win when we get there. discussing what we need to do better in order to do that is healthy. we have alot of work to do, and to assume otherwise would be misleading. if champ says “it feels like we’re 1-2”, then there is a problem. hopefully, the rest of the d isn’t satisfied with their play, either
