Broncos Statisical Analysis

Lots of good threads and posts are out there, and I won’t re-hash what’s been said. We are 3-0, and we have KC up next, so 4-0 should be well within reach.

I saw some stats that should soothe a few souls out there and wanted to pass them on. The play of our linebackers in the game was pretty fair – I saw Boss out of position a few times, but Shockley is a tough guy to defend. Boss’s 5 tackles and 4 assists were third on the team – DJ Williams led all with a rousing 14 tackles and 2 assists, while Nate Webster came in 2nd with 7 tackles and 5 assists as well as a rumbling, stumbling great TD run. Those three led the team.

Did anyone foresee Hillis becoming a return guy this week? Not a bad job, either – he’s becoming our swiss army knife, and his lead block on the Pittman touchdown was, as one MHRer said, classic. The D needs to step up, but big plays do win games. ST improved, and Jay had a sub-par game, but was often amazing.

Also, we are first in the league for scoring efficiency, at 63.3%. We rank second for fewest 3 and out drives, with 4.

Another fine stat:  Throughout the first three games, only the Chargers recorded a sack, and that was a statistical sack only, listed as a team sack, to account for the fumble. That’s an amazing performance – I recall before the Chargers game people saying that their D, even accounting for injuries, was too good not to record a sack. Our O line is putting on a world class performance. If Steiger becomes the center we look for him to be, or if Hamilton moves and Steiger takes over a guard, we could be one of the best for a long time.

And here’s to the only stat this really counts –  3 and 0!
