Giving up leads in 2005
It is early in the season, but there has already been a lot of talk about our Broncos giving up two very large leads at home. These are leads that we should have not given up, and should have instead been easier than they were. While thinking about this, I reminded myself of 2005. Yes we were 13-3, and one very bad game by Plummer away from reaching a Super Bowl that most of us think we could have won. However, let's examine a particular month of that season. The month is October, and while we did go 4-1 that month, I see do see some parallels between that particular month and the early going of this season.
Oct 2 Broncos @ Jags
Nothing much to note here except that we did beat a good Jags team, 20-7
Oct 9 Redskins @ Broncos
Up 21-10 in the fourth quarter, we let the Redskins come back with a FG, and then a Touchdown with 1:09 left in the game. The Redskins miss on a two point conversion to tie the game. Final 21-19 Broncos
Oct 16 Patriots @ Broncos
We go up 28-3 with over 10 minutes to go in the third quarter. That's it, game is over. However, the Pats score 17 unanswered points, and get the ball back with 5 minutes to go in the game, at their own 8. They had moved the ball well in the second half, scored on 3 of their first 4 drives that half. However, the Broncos are able to force the Pats to punt, and the Denver O gets two first downs and run out the clock. Final 28-20 Broncos
Oct 23 Broncos @ Giants
This is Eli's first flash of brilliance, in my opinion. The Broncos get a 23-10 lead with over 13 minutes to go in the game. What happens next is Eli and the Giants offense comes alive and scores two TD's, the game winner with 5 seconds to go in the game. Final 24-23 Giants
Oct 30 Eagles @ Broncos
The final of this game may have looked pretty, but this game got really scary for a period of time. The Broncos build up a 28-0 lead with 7:30 to go in the second quarter. The Eagles then come roaring back, and get within a touchdown to start the fourth quarter. The Broncos are able to regroup and score 21 points of their own in the fourth quarter to win. Final 49-21 Broncos
In two of those games we had a two possesion lead and either held on for a win (Redskins), or lost in the final seconds (Giants). In two others we had what looked like enourmous leads, only to have them almost evaporate, with both of those being at home. In those games our defense had lapses and we were able to recover. The Broncos did get picked on a bit durring the month of October, with the MSM saying we were playing on the edge, and lucky to be 7-1. Jake was being efficient and taking care of the ball. The defense was giving up leads, but holding when they needed to.
Instead of rambling on, I will simply say... discuss

i'M SORRY
But I just don’t see us losing 3 games. Maybe 2 if we play KC this weekend hung over.
Michael Fabiano really knows nothing about football outside of regression analysis and stat extrapolation. If it doesn’t have to do with fantasy football, his opinion is worthless.

I hope I didn't jinx it.
I wrote a post about it last year and what happens? The Broncos lose. So that be the last time I say jack until after my birthday.

I have a different view
To me giving up a lead means the other team takes the lead. Denver blew a 21-3 lead to SD, but have not blown leads to the faders or Saints. Dont forget this is a young team. I maybe concerned about letting teams back into games but if you look how it has happended it was either ST and/or turnovers in the redzone late. I have not worries. Until a team can show that they can stop JC and the boys I will take Denver winning games 38-31. Its the best brand of football I have seen since 1996-98.

I have to argue with the opening paragraph...
Plummer is NOT the reason we lost that AFC championship game. That was one of the worst overall team performances I’ve ever seen…especially on the defensive side. Plummer may have had the best game of anyone on our team; however, he was placed in a situation where he had to force plays to have a chance and was getting hit on almost every single play. It was one of the worst Broncos games I’ve seen…but not Jake’s fault.

I never stated that Plummer was the reason we lost
I simply stated that he had a very bad game, which he did. One of those fumbles I’ll credit to the O-Line not picking up a blitz. However the two interceptions, and the second fumble were bad plays by Plummer. However, we couldn’t cover Cedric Wilson to save our lives, and that really hurt as well.

I was at that Oct 30th Eagles game...
Which really helped confirm that Eagles fans are arseholes (that’s Irish for asshole).
The night before we went out in LoDo for Halloween and the Eagles fans were trash talking and trying to fight everyone. They continued right through till game time and when the Broncos crushed them they were the whiniest most excuse-ladden group of pathetic losers that I’d ever seen.
GO BRONCOS!!!

Oh yeah...
and whatever Denverjhawk has to say about my role in provoking said Eagles fans on the aforementioned Hallow’s Eve celebration is a blatant fabrication! (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!)

Just found this post so I am going to comment on Mermaid's antics
So we are standing outside this bar and every time an eagles fan walked by Mermaid would raise his hand as if to give a high five and say “Yeah, Go Eagles” said Eagles fan would walk into what they assumed friendly territory only to be smacked in the head by one of our friends wife while Mermaid yells “Eagles Suck”. So I ask you…who’s fans are arseholes.

I can't believe your using that story as proof that Eagles fans are assholes...
I don’t remember anyone trying to fight anyone but if they had wanted to fight you they probably would have been justified. =)

2005 AFC championship
denver defense played some kind crappy zone all game long big ben found every recever for mid to long range completions all the time especially on 3rd downs . I know we changed defensive coaches since but it seems like we are playing that terrible zone all over again and I hate it
