Horsetracksnew_medium

The NFL Season officially gets underway tonight when the Giants host the Redskins.  That means plenty of NFL Previews all over the web, including the Denver Media and their in-depth evaluations of the Broncos.  Let's take a look --

Milehighreport_small_medium   The RMN has plenty to offer, including a new Broncos Trivia game, in it's NFL Preview.
Milehighreport_small_medium  The Broncos know they need to stop the Raiders' ground game to get a win.
Milehighreport_small_medium  It's now been 10 years since the Broncos have been to the Super Bowl, something us fans know all too well.
Milehighreport_small_medium  The Raiders are loaded with Broncos influence
Milehighreport_small_medium  The Raiders are still bitter about "blocked trade", look to Russell to be their Elway.
Milehighreport_small_medium  In a League dominated by Quarterbacks, Jay Cutler is primed to become an elite one in 2008.
Milehighreport_small_medium  Shanahan's disdain for Al Davis runs deep....15 years deep.
Milehighreport_small_medium  Two former Broncos are motivated to play against their old teammates
Milehighreport_small_medium  Boss Bailey definitely feels at home with the Broncos

Does JaMarcus understand anything about his "team"?
It’s your face that’s out there when people are saying ‘The Oakland Raiders.’ So you have to carry yourself in a good way and watch your surroundings.

Does he think he’s playing for a class organization that’s worried about its appearance to the outside world?

I so can't wait for this game

I know Lelie and Walker are motivated to play against us one MNF, yet Walker isn’t totally healthy so I am not sure how effective he’ll be. As far as Lelie goes, he wanted to be a #1 and has done nothing to prove that he should be and won’t while with the Raiders.

The Raiders seem to be doing what we did with Browns players, however I just don’t think it will work.

I love the MHR link!

You guys are more and more often recently getting the respect and exposure you deserve I’ve noticed. While spending the past 6 weeks in Europe I was lucky cause i had no trouble following the team, I knew exactly what website to go to first whenever i found a computer and had the usual 15 or so minutes. I knew someone was here finding me the good articles and adding great analysis. Keep up the good work.

YOU are the reason that MHR works hard.

Elway

I never knew that the Raiders offered the Colts 3 #1 picks and 2 #2 picks for Elway, and Rozelle blocked it. That was a lot better than what we gave for him. We only gave the Colts essentially 1 number one pick(our 84 pick) and a backup QB for Elway. Thank goodness he did, but I wonder why Rozelle blocked the deal. It is funny, though. That is 2 times in 23 years that we got a franchise QB that the Raiders could have had. In 83 with Elway(and the Raiders could have had Marino that year, too) and Cutler 2 years ago. Only this time, the Raiders were able to rectify that with the drafting of Russell. The last time, they couldn’t. They tried for several years to get a good QB(drafting Rusty Hilger in 85, trading for Jay Schroeder in 88, and drafting Todd Marinovich in 91 when they could have had Favre) after failing to land Elway and were unsuccessful.

also

Chris Hinton the #4 overall of the 1983 draft and 2 preseason games was included in the deal. Dont forget that the raiders had just sued the NFL over them moving to LA. But I dont think thats the reason that Rozelle blocked the trade , I dont care why anymore. Heck SD wanted to trade for Elway. They had 3 #1’s but Gene Klein the then owner of the chargers would only part with 2 of them. Well the rest is history

Yea, Crazy Al is still pissed off about that....

the scary thought for me is that I probably would have become a fader fan if that deal had happened. Since I lived in California….wow, scary scary thought. I became a Bronco fan in thie mid 80’s because of Elway and only because of Elway….of course now I am a Bronco fan because of Pat Bowlen. Having a great owner makes all the difference in the world.

I got to hide the regular season from my wifey....she was pissed last week that was

yelling during the Cardinals game…she said, “I thought the regular season didn’t start yet and that this game is meaningless” I said, “It is meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but its still important to WIN!”

Absolutly,

Let’s see how Eli and the Giants start out at defending their title.

by weazel on Sep 4, 2008 4:02 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

Redskins 23, Giants 20

The Giants have been talking for weeks about being disrespected and blah blah. They talk too much and are too full of themselves right now, they need to be humbled. The Redskins on the other hand are silent…that speaks more loudly to me than all of the quotes from these players on the Giants.

Yeah, I remember hearing

that after they won the SB, they still felt like they were being disrespected. Even if they were, they should just show them their ring and be done with it. If they want to prove anybody wrong then just step on the field and prove it.

I am interested to see what kind of pressure thye apply with Strahan retired and Osi being hurt.
