Tom Nalen

I was perusing a wonderful website, coldhardfootballfacts.com. I cam across an article that was for the most underrated player in the NFL. I guess they had some poll. Well the poll takers got it wrong. CHFF crew went over the rosters of all 32 teams and came with a top 5. 5. London Fletcher, LB, Washington 4. Derrick Brooks, LB, Tampa Bay 3. Tra Thomas, T, Philadelphia 2. Aaron Smith, DE, Pittsburgh 1. Tom Nalen, C, DENVER Its nice when a site like CHFF recognizes a great player that lets his playing do the talking. My question is this, is Tom Nalen then best Offensive lineman in the history of the Broncos?

Yes.

Broncos have had some very good OL’s over the years – tackles Dave Studdard amd Caludie Minor (and Zimmerman), guards Tom Glassic and Paul Howard come to mind. Also, a very good, undersized and underrated center from the 70’s – 80’s, whose name escapes my old brain right now, was a nalen type. But Nalen is the best ever.

Not the center ...

.. I was thinking of, if by naming Billy Bryan you meant that.

I gotta go with Zimm.........................

He’s the stud LT we needed to get the 2 rings.

The player who thinks he can and the player who knows he can are two different players, which one are you???

by Broncofan on Sep 6, 2008 6:37 PM MDT   0 recs

zimm only has 1

tony “t-bone” jones filled in admirably for ring #2. in fact, we were a more dominant team the second time around. not that he was better, just saying. for me, tom nalen is the best, followed by zimm. did you see what we looked like in the detroit game when nails(and lynch)went down? we were done. i like weigmann, though, and he should do well for us this season. i don’t expect tom to fully recover this season, unfortunately. he may not be back at all

Right........................

Forgot about that, but we swung a trade to get Jones, my point is a stud LT is a must to be successful IMHO. When we were worried Zimm wasn’t coming back, we went out and got a stud. Lepsis was serviceable and an outstanding talent, however, he wasn’t the stud Jones and Zimm were. I really think it is pretty close to a tossup, because Nalen is one of the best centers to play the game and center is a critical pos. But no more critical than LT IMHO.

I just can’t forget Zimm… and Nalen is right there as well. Those two go down as two of the best ever, and I hope Clady realizes that and does his best to emulate them. so far, I love what I see, especially after he got manhandled a couple of times.

I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok.

Center is probably the most important part of the OL....

I love Zim, but Nalen is indisputabley a Bronco

I think Nalen is the best OL we have ever drafted

But Zimmerman was more talented,

someone who I think always gets overlooked is Bishop, I think he ranks up there.

The Center position is so underrated

Look at Indy last night. They had not suitable back up to Saturday and it showed. Just another fact about Nalen. He has not allowed a sack since 2002. That is amazing

I voted no

but now I’m having second thoughts. My immediate thought was Zimm. I’ll have to ponder this one for a while.
