Sources: Tom Brady Out For The Season

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Ak7NGIFBIalqJaSSsc.0qnQ5nYcB?slug=ms-bradyoutforyear090708&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

BIG news Broncos/NFL fans. This isn't offical, obviously, but they say "it's bad".

"It’s bad," a team source said. "We’re going to have to play without him."

Brady was hurt as he stepped up in the pocket to make a throw to wideout Randy Moss. Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard, who was on the ground, lunged forward and struck Brady’s leg, which buckled as he released the ball.

Brady was helped off the field and was later led down a staircase by team officials, presumably to undergo tests.

UPDATE 1: TORN ACL - Yeah he's done.

http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/patriots/index.php/2008/09/07/weei-brady-has-torn-acl/

WEEI’s Ron Borges is reporting that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered a torn ACL today, citing an NFL source close to the situation. If true, Brady is likely done for the season.

We still have to take care of our own business...

but a lot of success in the NFL can be attributed to being lucky and staying healthy. I just hope we take care of business tomorrow night. If so, next week is going to be some SWEET ACTION!

I wish Woody Paige was our coach!

Wow.

I did not see this coming. This changes the make-up of the entire season

Tom Arnold, of Fox Sports Net's Best Damn Sports Show Period, said this about Warren Sapp: "Hey, Warren, the Raiders signed you to a seven-year deal. I guess Bill Callahan was right --- they are the dumbest team in America."

As much as I hate the guy, I won't cheer for his injury.

Maybe only chuckle a little. Matt Cassel looked pretty good. Maybe now people (Peter King) will realize that Brady is not the best player in the league, he just has the best supporting cast.

I could be wrong, but I believe a Raider is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

Wow this would be...

huge, and clearly we haven’t seen the Colts or Broncos in regular season action, but the Chargers looked less than impressive, Jacksonville couldn’t score, really minus Pittsburgh the AFC looks wide open so far…

by Denverjhawk on Sep 7, 2008 5:40 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

For only being the first week,

the AFC is looking very interesting right now.

I was really surprised about Jacksonville……..totally surised that their offense was nowhere to be found. Usually they are really physical and can wear opponents down (7 sacks and you are probably not doing much)

How about Turner in Atlanta, he just went nuts today.

They’re trying to set him as being a hero playing through the “injury”. jk

Terrible for him, hope it’s not too serious.

You know...

if Favre and the Jets go to the playoffs now… the Packers get a 2nd round pick… there’re a lot of things affected by this.

Brady

I agree with Papigrande. People will probably now realize that Brady is severely overrated. Now, I don’t want to see anyone get hurt. The NFL is a vicious sport. That being said, the Pats and Brady have had this coming for a long time. You cheat and you have an arrogant attitude, and this is what you get. And, what makes me sick is that, on NBC’s pregame, someone was saying or quoting the commissioner and saying that this league “needs more Tom Bradys”. That just made me furious.

Naw

castle is a back up for a reason. He has not started a game since HS. He may know the system but he is no Brady. Brady has won 3 Super Bowls with no name WR’s. (remind you of a QB who went to 3 SB’s with no WR’s?) Calling Brady overrated is wrong but really shows the dislike of the Pats more than anything. You dont win 10 straight playoff games without being a great QB.

/I cant believe I am defending Brady

Wow this might open a playoff spot for us.

This will add another win to our schedule, plus this means the bills or jets will most likely win the divison which could set us up for the wild card!!! (Knock, Knock)

Jules: Tell 'em, Vincent.
Vincent: A (Eddie) Royale with cheese.
Jules: A (Eddie) Royale with cheese! You know why they call it that?
Brett: Because of the metric system?
Jules: Check out the big brain on Brett! You're a smart mother******. That's right. The metric system.

Remember the Pats schedule

They still have arguably the easiest schedule in the league, even without Brady, they probably have a playoff spot with their name on it. If Brady is out for the season, Denver’s game against them will be easier.

somewhere I said it first--and it was at this site--NE will not make the playoffs.

it seems as though no AFC team has impressed at all
Pats – nope
Colts – r losing to ears
SD – lose to panthers.. HA – the ending was bomb
JAX – lose to titans
titans – Young not looking all the best
texans- failed to impress

We need to get out there and kick some Faider a*ss and own this division

From right now chargers look to be 10-5
and i dont see how the broncos could lose more than one game.lol as of now who..Jax in denver?? chargers in SD probably yea but who knows we havnt even played…

Steelers?

They’re the only elite AFC team that really impressed today. The Bills looked great, too.

a note from RMN

“Barring last-minute personnel moves, the Raiders will be playing with only seven defensive linemen on the roster — including three defensive tackles. Trust me, the Broncos’ coaching staff has taken notice of those numbers, and will bang at the Raiders with the run often in hopes of wearing down those seven linemen. The list of seven linemen includes defensive end Kalimba Edwards, who been listed on Oakland’s injury report all week.”

It sucks but...

It was bound to happen at some point. The Pats have been so lucky recently when it comes to injuries that eventually someone like Brady was going to get hurt. I hate to see anyone injured, but i’m pretty excited about what the injury does for our matchup against the pats.

Also, nice tid-bit rynoz, I hope we get an early lead and can grind out first downs and run the clock.

pats

i really wouldn’t count the pats out, even without brady. maybe for the sb, but i still think they are the best team in the division. the fish are a college team right now. the jets looked horrible, but favre saved the day. he had his ups and downs, though, and i definitely wouldn’t be handing them the division. they will(and always do)find a way to fail. the bills look good, and they were good last season. they might give the pats a run for the division if brady is done, but i would’t put money on them winning it. that’s their only competition, as i see it. we’ll see how good belicheck is without his qb, now. i bet he isn’t as bad as some people seem to think. i’ll say this, i like our chances a lot better in n.e. now, though

Something to keep on mind folks.

This is only week one. It is easy to get carried away with results, but consider a few things.

1) Teams are rusty the first week. Play reflects team quality more as the season wears on.
2) Are we really going to count some teams in the playoffs and others out based on one game?
3) Injuries affect a team, no doubt. But whose to say that key injuries won’t happen to other teams?

The season is far, far from being over. At this rate, I’m worried that our fans will either give up on the season if Denver loses tonight, or start buying SB tickets if they win.

I have Brady at QB in two of my leagues.

Luckily I was able to secure Cutler in one (he was vastly underrated), and Big Ben in the other (don’t know how he fell that far).

I traded Brady in one of my leagues this morning!

I got Clinton Portis out of the deal. I have absolutely no idea how that happened. Couldn’t have been because I’m in a league with my mom, could it?
