Colorado Springs without cable
I don't know if I am the only person left without cable or satelite, but I only live an hour and a half south of mile high stadium, and can't watch the Broncos game without going to a bar or on my computer. I probably donated close to $200 dollars to local sports bars to enjoy the priveldge of drinking overpriced beer next to raider's fans while watching Sam Adams attempt a pushup after every play. Does a city of 1/2 a million that is a short drive away really not qualify for a local station taking the game? In my opinion, with more and more games getting shifted to cable channels, the Broncos are loosing a major market simply because they are not broadcasting there.
I realize that alot of you are trying to watch games in other states, and that maybe you don't have much sympathy for my situation. But frankly I would think that living so close to Denver would warrant getting a broadcast. Heck there are many mountain towns that get these games, and they are much smaller/farther away.
Does anyone else here who lives in the Springs area agree?
OK, I'm done ranting now.

I have alot of sympathy...
There is no excuse that the NFL doesn’t consider the Springs part of Broncs Country, especially when they allowed residents of several New England states claim as much alst year, taking it all the way to congress. That’s why the Pats/Giants game was broadcast everywhere. Denver isn’t much different. If they were the Colorado Broncos, or the Rocky Mountain Broncos, I’m sure you’d get the game. The Broncos are regional, with a major following in Wyoming, Idaho, the Dakota’s. It’s ridiculous that you can’t get the game.
I am one of those that has to buy Sunday Ticket to see the Broncos, but what you have to do really SUCKS, living that close to Denver.

Are you sure?
I live in Trinidad and we get the Pueblo/Colorado Springs stations for local network coverage. Of course, I live so far out in the boonies that we use satellite not cable but I’ve never had trouble getting the games.
If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!

Just the ESPN and NFLN games, I still get the CBS and FOX games
The games I am complaining about are the ones that ESPN and NFLN let local Denver stations feed. If I could have watched these games from the comfort of my couch with a twelve dollar twelve pack last year I would have. I just double checked the local tv listings and there is no mention of any NFL games tonight.

For it be on local stations
You must live within a 75 mile radius of Denver. Thats the NFL rules, it also has to do with the blackout policy. yes, it does suck. But you can blame that on the NFL and to a certain extent the anti-trust exemption they have. Plus this is another reason I hate cable companies getting MNF and befoer that the Sunday night package. I am like Jibbons. I live here in SD, but I dont have cable. Its either have a roof and no cable or no roof at all. So tonight I must go to a local watering hole, drink beer and watch the Broncos kick some booty. Ok, I not that apposed to drinking beer, but I would rather do it in my own place as to lower the cost of my tab

I could have swore
I read somewhere that the game would be on fox 31 tonight as well as espn.

it will
as long as you live in the Denver-metro area and within 75 miles of the Denver radius

Yeah, but there is no Fox 31 in Colorado Springs
just Fox 21, with a different line up and news team. Its a completely different station.

Yeah, we are pretty screwed here in the Springs

no worse
I am force fed the chargers (but next week is the exception). Its even worse when these “fans” here have to depend on the local tv station to buy up the remaining 600 tickets to avoid a blackout. Ya, Sd has good fans

at least the chargers are fun to watch
i was stuck with sf/az yesterday afternoon. the fumbling 49ers are just pitiful to see in action. the fans, though, love ’em.

East Coast gets the shaft...again
That would definitely suck. I would be irate. But have some sympathy for us folks on the EC. I live in Virginia and kickoff won’t be until 10:30pm. I am going to go ahead and predict that I will be worthless at work tomorrow. I know, I know. Tape it right? Rrriiiiggghhhhht. I was telling my brother last night. If I record it, I’ll be up all night wondering what is happening. So that is out. If we lose, I’ll be too pissed to fall asleep and will be up all night. If we win, I’ll be too wired up to sleep and will be up all night. Last Thursday the kickoff was at 7:00pm eastern. That was sooooo nice. The game was done at 10:30. It was glorious! When it comes to sports, the EC gets shafted a lot. I’m up at 5:00am everyday for work so best case scenario is in bed at 1:30am up at 5:00. Dude, I need my beauty sleep. The Broncos should give some kind of award for my dedication

I hear you, this game is pretty late for me, and I live in Mountain Time
I know, I know, it’s not that late, but it is when there is a 35% chance of hangover.
lucky for me, my boss is flexible, and will let me show up a couple hours late.

35%???
I like that percentage. That would allow me to drink 65% more than usual. Are you guys hiring?

Hah!,
The 35% is the odds I give the raiders of winning, cause if the faders win, I will probably want a few more drinks to put me down for the night.

Its not the end of the world,
just a major irritation for me. I guess I could get a satelite, but I refuse to pay that much money to watch three or four football games. I will be glued to the computer watching on super low def (still better than a bar!).

Don't know where in the Springs you live, but...
…my wife and I will be watching the game at the Woodmen & I-25 Old C’s for exactly that same reason (had DirecTV HD for a couple months in the Spring. It was nice…and a long story as to why we don’t have it now!) Bar prices are higher than home, but Old C’s has a great beer selection, decent happy hour ($2.50 mini pizzas!), and…well, they’ll show the game! :o)

Re:Don't know where in the Springs you live, but...
Good Company is another one of my fav’s to watch. Union and Briargate across the street from Pampart High school up the hill behind hapel Hills mall. Owner’s are really nice and Bronco fans and waitress’s and bartenders are pretty damn hot. Lot’s of t.v’s and the Bronco game is always on the big screen

God I miss that place
I finally finished off my World Beer Tour there (after starting it in College 20 years prior – I had a 6 year vacation in SD). Upstairs past the pool tables is a great place to watch the games!

I'm downtown, plenty of bars in walking distance
but man, if I am going to be paying $4-5 for a beer, I better be sitting in a stadium.

being someone who lived in Pueblo for a time.....
you may have to call the local affiliates in Colorado Springs for future broadcasts. You may want to contact KKTV (CBS) and ask them to show the games in situations like that.

My hardluck story.
I agree with Jibbons. I hate that some games went to cable (NFLN and ESPN).
When my daughter was sick, we sold our TV and darn near everything else to cover what insurance couldn’t. I rely on the kindness of friends for games.
Tonight (long story), I wasn’t able to go with my regular helpers. So I went to the manager of our apartment complex to rent the pool house for the night (just so I could watch the game on the cable tv they have). She told me it wasn’t being used tonight anyway, and since I would oly be watching tv and not cooking or anything, I could use it for free! Woo hoo!
