…for wasting our time Mr. Bowlen. When you fired Mike I thought you might have some sense to replace him with somebody that would bring a different mentality to the team like Spagnulo or Frasier. Instead you just hired a young patriots offensive coordinator (has there ever been a successful patriots OC or DC head coach?) who we don’t need. I hope Broncos fans are prepared to watch their team go through another season just like this one, with an offense that has too much pressure on it because the defense will let anyone score on every drive. Keeping Mike would have had the same effect.

Don't just say that...

…just because he’s a offensive coach like Shanahan doesn’t mean he will be just like mike. He started out defensively ya know so he understands both sides of the ball. Plus we have all the perfect pieces in place to have a record breaking offensive like the pats he coordinated. A top tier QB, a tall deep threat wideout who breaks tackles, a short possesion reciever who creates first down and can even return punts, when allowed, and a dominant o line. Obviously we don’t have anywhere near the D the pats did but as long a we create an average one, at least we know McDaniels know how to take advantage of offensive talent.

Coach Mac!!

Yeah, as usual Adam Schefter was on the money before anyone else and I enjoyed watching Mort’s report on tv a little bit ago also. I like this hire because it seems that Mr. Bowlen and company were really impressed by Mac’s interviews and plans for our offense, defense, and special teams. It will be interesting to see if Bates and the rest of the offensive staff stick around and who Mac gets for defensive coordinator (as many of you have posted the Eagles secondary coach is high on Mac’s list but he has 1 year left on his contract according to Mort). Hopefully, Mac will be able to fill the huge shoes of Mike Shanahan. GOOD LUCK COACH MAC AND WELCOME TO BRONCO NATION!!

I can deal with bears....sharks on the other hand.......of course, I am not talking about if I were menstrual(I’m a guy so that isn’t it), but yeah. I can deal with bears if my arm or something was bleedin’, but sharks? I’ll pass on those. The worst feeling in the world is to be out in the surf and feel something very large brush up against your leg as you were alone waiting for your next wave. I don’t think I’ve gone out past waist deep in the ocean since. lol It was probably just a damn dolphin or something, but yeah. Screw sharks and the evolutionary train they rode in on!

My take as well

Hiring the HC first says that no big time GM coming in. Pat Bowlen trusts his front office. The COO, both Goodmans, and Brian X were all a big part of the search and interview process. Bowlen went back to East Coast for the 2nd Josh McD interview, so he made the choice and “runs the show”.

I’m not exactly THRILLED by this hire. Not yet, at least.

I still think we should have hired a defensive minded coach. And how will the players in the locker room accept this “kid” as head coach? I hope Josh has an amazing DC in mind, because that side of the ball needs the most work next season.

It’s still seems all so weird.

I'm less impressed with Capers...

but that’s just because I want a younger DC ala Morris, Fraiser, Strong… Capers smells like aqua velva to me. And that my friends, is not a good coaching smell to have.

Love the hire,

I’ll take Pat at his word when he said that he would hire the best candidate. With no inside reporting to the contrary, I find it extremely difficult to second guess the interview process to the extent that Josh wasn’t the best candidate. I’m also happy that the hire came from an offensive background, as our offense is our strength and must be taken care of first.

I think Mac will retain Bates, Dennison, and Turner and keep the momentum going on offense, while providing a fresh perspective that should turn this offense into an unstoppable force. This is a great move in that respect. As for the defense, we’re a couple playmakers and a solid DC from a mediocre unit. The good news is mediocre is all we need to be a playoff contender. Who knows, maybe we hit on a couple home runs in the draft and bring in a dominate FA or two and the Defense is good next year. Then we would be a SB contender, imo.

Bottom line: the offense is our baby. Pat had to protect the baby. Hot water burn baby.
