Adam Schefter: Broncos to hire Mike Nolan as DC -

Adam Schefter Mike Nolan bound for Denver, too

Now that the Broncos have agreed to hire Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as head coach, he has begun to piece together his staff.

McDaniels’ most significant hire will be his defensive coordinator. And Denver’s new defensive coordinator is expected to be former 49ers head coach Mike Nolan, a Broncos source confirmed Sunday night.

Nolan interviewed for the Packers’ job last week, but he will take the Broncos’ job, returning him to the city where he once coached under Dan Reeves and Wade Phillips.

Anxious to see who ends up on the D staff...

I think Nolan would be more than capable, but what about the other names? Capers and McDermott are two very intresting names as well. McDermott especially would be exciting as he is also very young and highly touted from the Johnson school of D. Maybe all three will be coaching on Denver’s D next year, as they build a defensive superpower with their collective genius.;)

McDermott

I like him, but we’d have to wait at least a week to get him and maybe more if the Eagles beat the Cards. Nolan can run either a 4-3 or a 3-4 so I guess he’ll be able to look at what we’ve got and go with whatever he thinks is best.

I like Mike Nolan better than Dom Capers actually...

Nolan has worked with both 4-3 and 3-4 schemes, and done well with both

I wish Woody Paige was our coach!

How come Woody didn't get a shot at HC?

We may not win many games…but at least postgame conference would be comical.

Nolan ran that Raven's Defense prior to Rex Ryan. We know how good they were...and still are. Maybe he can help us pick up Suggs in offseason?

I love me some 3-4…When you get the right personnel of course?. This could mean that we go for players like Terrance Cody or Bj Raji in the 1st round, because we definitely do NOT have a NT right now…

Or perhaps a big FA?

Suggs plays outside in the Raven’s 3-4…he’s not bad?

Nolan

Nolan is a great hire, and if we can get Suggs…that’d be awesome!

Fantastic Defenseive Coordinator

Anyone who doesn’t think Mike Nolan can AT LEAST get our defense to the middle-of-the-pack this year is nuts. He’s a solid solid Defensive coach.

I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.
