Josh McDaniels is one of the finest people and brightest, most talented coaches I have ever worked with. Since joining us eight years ago, Josh performed a variety of roles and excelled in every one of them. Between his work on defense, in scouting, player evaluation and coordinating the offense, Josh is a very well-rounded coach whose outstanding body of work speaks for itself. He is the product of a pure football environment which is evident in his approach to the game. On behalf of the entire Patriots organization, we thank Josh for tremendous success in New England and congratulate him and the McDaniels family for this most deserving opportunity for advancement.

Very classy statement by Belichick....
Obviosuly some fondness there and a pretty glowing recommendation for some one that deos not speak effusively of many people.

See what happens when you leave New England with the coach's blessing? Mangini.....bad bad boy.
This is my GAP, there are many like it but this one is mine. Without my GAP I am useless, without me, they will run through my GAP. I will protect my GAP and have my brothers back on his. I will not be moved from my GAP, I am a crazed dog that patrols this area and will defeat all who entire it. I own this GAP, it is mine. I bought it with blood and sweat. I will not be pushed. I will not be moved. This Sunday I will make a stand and a statement.

Looks like Mr. Beeelichick
has nice words about our coach.
I think he’s just happy Shanny’s out of the league. lol. He got tired of getting his ass kicked.
"WTF" By Zappa. 1/5/09
I can deal with bears....sharks on the other hand.......of course, I am not talking about if I were menstrual(I’m a guy so that isn’t it), but yeah. I can deal with bears if my arm or something was bleedin’, but sharks? I’ll pass on those. The worst feeling in the world is to be out in the surf and feel something very large brush up against your leg as you were alone waiting for your next wave. I don’t think I’ve gone out past waist deep in the ocean since. lol It was probably just a damn dolphin or something, but yeah. Screw sharks and the evolutionary train they rode in on!

Hmmmm....
If Bill Belichick praises you, does that mean something bad?
/just kidding
Welcome, Coach McDaniels! Don’t screw up in general. Don’t screw up the offense. Un-screw the D, please. Oh yeah, and remember: faiders and chargers exist to be beaten by us, not vice versa.
Blast and botheration.

Cool Quote
I wonder if he’ll shake his hand after games?? I don’t recall, were things this peachy when Mangini left? Why did Bill hate him so much? If I recall, Mangini didn’t rat on the spygate thing until after Belichick blew him off a couple times at midfield.
What gets me excited about coach Mac is this whole “product of a pure football environment”, son of a coaching ledgend, etc.

They'll be fine...
Belichick HATES the Jets, and he gave Mangini his blessing to take any job but the Jets. Combine that with Mangini’s possible tampering with Patriots players/employees and the fact that Mangini and Mike Tannenbaum may have blown the whistle on Belichick in the Spygate mess, and there you go. If you were Belichick, you would now hate Mangini as well…
However, Belichick must certainly realize that Denver is one of the finest organizations out there, and I’m sure he is quite happy for McDaniels that he landed such a great gig. The Jets? Not so much – it may be here in the biggest media center and city around, but the Jets organization is not a well-run or quality one – Belichick knows that firsthand.

Agreed
I vaguely recall a nice quote from Belichick when Mangini left (but I don’t think it was this effusive in praise.) And thinks went sour long before the handshakes. There were rumors that Mangini was not focused on the playoffs because of the job search, that he was recruiting Patriot coaches on the plane after the Denver loss. And then there was the whole thing where the Patriots felt Mangini was trying to tamper with Deion Branch.
On top of all that, I don’t think Belichick felt Mangini was ready to be a head coach (Mangini only had one year as D coordinator, and he had some of his playcalling responsibilities taken away as the year went on.) Plus, he went to the Jets, the organization Belichick loathes above everything else.
Anyway, point being, I think this is way different than the Mangini situation. I don’t forsee any bad blood between Belichick and McDaniels.
I wish Josh luck, I thought he did a great job with NE. I only ever read praise for him from his players (FWIW), and the fact that he was given so much responsibility at such a young age under Belichick says a lot. My one and only concern is that McDaniels looks so young (as silly as that sounds). I worry a little bit about how that will play in the locker room, but Broncos fans would know better than I. Good luck Josh!
