BREAKING NEWS: DP REPORTING MIKE NOLAN HEADING BACK TO DENVER AS DC.
Yep,
Second post of the day regarding Mike Nolan.
The Denver Post is reporting that Mike Nolan has agreed to terms and will be returning to the Denver Broncos as Defensive Co-Ordinator.
I was very impressed by Josh McDaniels: he has a take no crap attitude and will bring fire and passion to this team.

Great first hire by Jedi McDaniels!
Talk of Jeff Davison coming back as well. He did a good job as a line coach for Broncos and has worked with McDaniels before. If Dennison leaves this would be a good replacement.
Thoughts?

I dont think anything is official until it is on the Bronco's website....
But it appears like it is a done deal.
Who knows Bok, maybe I will be the new DC.
Strange times at Dove Valley…..very exciting but I think the Jedi will play his hand close to his chest eh?

If you do become the DC...
will you hook me up with some tickets? Like maybe sideline passes? I’d do it for you.

THE SUIT
McDaniels was the best option for this team. You CAN NOT overfocus on the defense and possibley have Jeremy Bates not progress with Cutler. McDaniels will watch over both sides of the ball, especially the O, while letting a defensive guy handle the D along with an intelligent GM.

He was OC there at Carolina...
Cant blame him for Jake Delhomme playing like a putz.
He was lone coach for Denver, and has done a great job with the running game at Carolina (agreed?).
If we cant have Dennison would be great to have Davidson who has experience with Jedi and also with the Broncos. Would be a very smart hire!

When was Davidson the line coach here?
Pre or post-Gibbs? I don’t recognize his name.

My fault...
He was an O LINEMAN for the Broncos but did not coach here.
He has coaching experience at New England, Cleveland and Carolina.
Here is his profile from Wikpedia:

Jeeze boydy
That is like mixing up Angela Jolie and Roseanne Barr. Donbok – that would have put him playing here in the Collier era so he is obviouslyu familier with zone blocking, but Carolina (as we well know) is moving away from the zone block. I just hope we can keep Dennison. I really think it is important to keep the zone block, one-cut running back game.

Yep...sorry first. I will take that one on the chin!!!
I would love to keep Dennison too but cant see it happening. I hope we offer him the OC job, but you could understand if he wants a fresh start too.
After checking out our RZ consistency, some questionable play calling etc I wont be that bummed if we lose Jeremy Bates. It would be nice to keep a young up and coming coach, but when you compare Jedi McD’s success with play calling and QB’s vs Bates its a no brainer.
NOTE TO JAY: If Bates leaves, dont pout. You have the chance to excel and progress at an even faster rate under Jedi….guve your new HC a chance!

Carolina abandoned the run far too early and put the game in delhomme's hands
which i could have told u before the game was a bad idea

Wouldn’t it be hard, if not impossible, for the Broncos to get permission to interview Davidson for what would be a lateral move?

I think his contract is up at Carolina so he would be free to look....
But if he is under contract you are totally right. He could only come here if he was named Asst. Coach/ OC type position.

I disagree
He didn’t have much to start with in at and built a solid D all around

So will he be running a 4-3 or a 3-4????

McDaniels said
that he is going to assemble the staff before addressing players.
I would assume that would mean that the staff is going to get together to determine what they are going to do based on their experience and the personnel available (at least I hope that will be their thought process).
So, we’ll find out once the staff is in place and they’ve had a chance to see what can be done with what we have and what we can do in FA and the draft.

I hope Nolan brings some new game!
Being on Reeves D coaching staff does not impress me at all. If you remember we had a horrible D back then. We relied on turnovers (which we were good at) like fumbles and blocked kicks (see: Cleveland Browns 86’ 87’ AFC Championships. We could not stop the run (see: Timmy Smith) which made it hard to stop the past. That sounds just like our D this year. We need a Big Defensive Line and a bad a__ middle linebacker. Our offense can almost run on auto pilot, but wont do a bit of good if we cant stop the run.
I would be embarrassed to admit I was on the D staff that gave up 200 plus yds in the super bowl to an unknown rookie that lasted 3 yrs in the league.
I love the broncos, just want to see them win! Want to send Phillip Rivers and the rest of that SD crew home with a tears in their eyes every year!
