New to MHR
Hello, I'm a Bronco Fan who, just like the rest of you, bleeds blue and orange. I am new to MHR, but have enjoyed lurking the last couple of months. In my opinion, nothing better than learning about football while talking about our favorite team. I agreed with the Shannahan firing, but I just have one question. If Bowlen was looking for somebody like Shannahan, why did he fire him in the first place.? And Mr. McDaniels, please, on draft day. Defense! Defense! Defense.

I can deal with bears....sharks on the other hand.......of course, I am not talking about if I were menstrual(I’m a guy so that isn’t it), but yeah. I can deal with bears if my arm or something was bleedin’, but sharks? I’ll pass on those. The worst feeling in the world is to be out in the surf and feel something very large brush up against your leg as you were alone waiting for your next wave. I don’t think I’ve gone out past waist deep in the ocean since. lol It was probably just a damn dolphin or something, but yeah. Screw sharks and the evolutionary train they rode in on!

You've never heard of Weird Al?
You should listen to that song… It changed my life. Or this one, which is just funny.

I about fell out of my chair
Love that…I’m fluent in both Javascript and Klingon. Too funy
I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

Welcome to MHR.
I think Bowlen wanted a sort of rebirth of sorts for this team. He felt Shanny’s message was getting stale…and Bowlen doesn’t want new air, he wants fresh air. Or something like that. lol
This is my GAP, there are many like it but this one is mine. Without my GAP I am useless, without me, they will run through my GAP. I will protect my GAP and have my brothers back on his. I will not be moved from my GAP, I am a crazed dog that patrols this area and will defeat all who entire it. I own this GAP, it is mine. I bought it with blood and sweat. I will not be pushed. I will not be moved. This Sunday I will make a stand and a statement.

He meant...
Shanny wasn’t givin up GM and Bowlen wasn’t having that. Mutual departure in a way.
McDaniels was the best option for this team. You CAN NOT overfocus on the defense and possibley have Jeremy Bates not progress with Cutler. McDaniels will watch over both sides of the ball, especially the O, while letting a defensive guy handle the D along with an intelligent GM.

Better than stale farts
Thanks to Mike Shanahan, a great coach who will be dearly missed. But...
Let's all get on the Mac Daddy Express!
Hillis for starter next year. He wears special thigh pads so his solid brass balls don't give him repeated thigh contusions.

Welcome to MHR
In regards to the firing, I think Bowlen was impatient. The Goodmans, Xander and Shanahan had a plan to rebuild the team and they started on the offensive side of the ball, success. The defense was next and there was no reason to believe that Goodmans and Xander wouldn’t have gotten it right. The recent successes in the draft is evident. Perhaps they needed help on the defensive side of the draft, Moss and Crowder eeehh…but they were desperate and reaching. The recent additions of Larson and WW show they can spot talent. Barrett wasn’t a bad find either although he is still raw but the tools are there.
Romeo Crennel is a defensive minded coach that if he was still with the Patriots and available we would all want him right up there with Steve Spags. Look how that worked out…
Belicheck is a good coach with a good team. He is successful. His tree isn’t all that impressive and nothing is going to lead me to believe that Brady and the Pats got better because of McDaniel and not the addition of Moss and Welker.
Mike Shanahan is one of the best and McDaniels isn’t even in the same stratosphere. With that said, I will root for his success and hope he creates a legacy of winning Broncos football.
Welcome aboard!

Welcome Aboard!!
We are glad to have you…
As for an answer, look no further than the Press Conference when Bowlen fired Shanny. He said “New Direction” about 6 times. He also said “I am here every day, I make the decisions”.
Those words had the sound of an owner that was simply sick and tired of someone else running his football team. He wanted to re-insert himself in the day-to-day operations and to do that Shanny had to go.

Gotta agree with Johnny B
Welcome! Pat Has control back! The draft will be decided as a coop but The HC, doesn.t have final say….WOW! How long has that been? They say that it will be Goodman Sr. but I think it will really be Pat, with all the educated input from the staff, after all, Pat knows football.

Glad to have you onboard!
I was in Albuqureque from 94 to 96 working on a Master’s degree in Geography at UNM. The food, weather and scenery in NM was great.
I agree, Larsen shouldn’t get any bigger. I am getting tired of his bone crushing hits knocking the pixels off my TV, once they fall to the floor they are very hard to find.
