What is everyone's problem with Doom?????
Dumervil is our best defensive player. He is our best pass rusher. He has absolutely no help on the D line. He is double teamed constantly. I'm reading all these posts saying that "we need to get rid of him", "he wont be around much longer", "he was the biggest dissapointment". Those people who want to get rid of him really need to watch a football game. DE's dont grow on trees you know.

I think Doom is excellent...
…when used correctly. Sadly was our most talented d-linemen but he should have been strictly a situational guy. I think next year, once we acquire more depth, we could see him reach 13 sacks again.
Just look what they did with Abraham in ATL. Mike Smith cuts back his snaps and yet it only increases his sack total and even makes him a pro-bowler. The first step to increasing Doom’s sack total will be getting an adequat run stuffer…
Yes, I'm a Diamondback and Suns fan. So you may be wondering, "Why does this fool like the Broncos so much?"

Wow, saying Doom is the best defensive player is a mouthful...He isn't even in the same league as Champ
He is undersized and he gets pushed around when teams run the ball. Against the Bills I saw one play where he was blown 3 to 4 yards off the ball. He has great pass rush skills, he uses exceptional technique and always has great leverage due to his size. I think he is a situational player and a situational player definitely isn’t the best on the squad.
As far as being double teamed on every play, I don’t think that is accurate. He may get chipped by a back or TE but it is rarely two on one for the duration of the snap.
I think one of the reasons people are clamoring for his release or trade is that the Broncos have been getting pushed around and when you have ’lightweight" ends playing every snap the need for more bulk or size is warranted.
In my opinion he should be a situational pass rusher in the 3-4.

in doom's defense...
he does get held a lot. i agree he needs to on the bench on obvious run downs, though. keep him as an elite pass-rusher, because he can be with some help somewhere on the d-line.

I think we'd like for him to do well
but the biggest thing is most people will probably see Doom on the outside if we move to a 3-4 combined with his down year.

can he tackle there? or as a specialist?
i see alot of people thinking moss, crowder, and even doom will make a good olb in the 3-4. i just don’t see it. dj, yes. those other guys lack the tackling ability to play a lb position. remember how bad tackling at the lb position looks last season? same problems on the line, thomas/powell/engelberger/moss/crowder/ doom is not a 3-4 end, we don’t have a 3-4 end, maybe eck can do it or peterson. and nose tackle, you cannot just plug in a fat guy and go from there. he will be the key to your defense, more so than mlb. if he goes down/doesn’t play well, your entire defense suffers. a new secondary added to the mix, as well as new position coaches, and well, you get the idea.
am i the only one not in favor of getting rid of/using out of position the likes of the entire d? champ, don’t need him now. your money will be more needed elsewhere. bly, bye. you can’t tackle, and a 3-4 corner needs to tackle. doom, doomed. is this really necessary, and why the march towards the 3-4? a strong 4-3 would be sufficient right now. i am on record as favoring a 4-3 line-up and not blowing up the d. bring me 7 starters, and i’ll change my mind, as the 3-4 is my favorite defensive alignment. just not with this crew and a few additions/rookies. it would be another nightmare next season, trust me. and i can’t do that again. no. and no 3-man rush, please.

I think in a 3-4, Doom would excel as our outside pass rusher as
opposing offensive lines would have to block him and a LB…the only problem is they wouldn’t know which LB is coming and from where.
This is my GAP, there are many like it but this one is mine. Without my GAP I am useless, without me, they will run through my GAP. I will protect my GAP and have my brothers back on his. I will not be moved from my GAP, I am a crazed dog that patrols this area and will defeat all who entire it. I own this GAP, it is mine. I bought it with blood and sweat. I will not be pushed. I will not be moved. This Sunday I will make a stand and a statement.

He has said he doesn't like playing standing up
He is a hand on the ground guy his whole life, now we think because he has speed and pass rushing skills he will be able to cover and play in space?
I don’t know, I think he would be spectacular in the Nickel pass rush DE…he will be on the field plenty.

I don't know if he is the best, but I think he is not any everydown DE and that is what has people frustrated
He is an overachiever, but he is limited playing the run and he can’t beat a double team or chip block, plus I saw him get owned by a lot of second rate OT this year, he has talent, but probably nothing more than a specialist.

+1
The chip on his shoulder will only take him so far. He has and can have great seasons, but he just isn’t built to be an every down DE.
I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.
