What will qualify as a successful season in 2009?

Well we all know what the coaching staff will be, we know the schedule, and we will soon know who the new faces joining the team will be in free agency and the draft.  The question now becomes what are your expectations for the Broncos next year, what will consititute a success in your minds.  What will justify firing Mike Shanahan and bringing in an unproven commodity as coach.  Do we need to make a big spash in free agency and the draft and have an instant success on the field.  Early indications are that the 2009 schedule will be a lot tougher than 2008, we will likely be blowing up a defense in favor of a 3-4 scheme, will that mean that you will accept a worse record in 2009 if it means better days in 2010 and beyond?  We will have a new offense, do we expect that Cutler will and the offense will be better or will you accept that there will be a learning curve that may take a year or two.  Will you be happy if we don't have blow-out loses and our loses are competive.  So I am just curious what the thoughts are as far as how we judge the 2009 team.
