Jay Cutler on Jim Rome
Jay Cutler was interviewed by Jim Rome today (1/29) on Jim Rome is Burning. He talks about the end of this season, Shanny's firing, McD's hiring, his diabeties, and makes his pick for Superbowl XLIII. He seemed very positive about McD, and said that looking back now, he understands Shanny's firing. I suppose that should put to rest any talk that his silence indicated that he was pouting about Shanny's firing and McD's hiring.

Thanks Jack!
I’m relieved to see this. It sounds like Jay’s taking it well. I’m surprised Rome didn’t mention Jeremy Bates, though. I’d like to hear Jay’s thoughts on that whole situation.
Overall, solid. He wasn’t as candid as he usually is, but Rome didn’t set him up to be. Oh, and I agree with him, Arizona will win the Super Bowl. Everyone automatically points to the Steelers’ defense, but I think that in an ironic twist the Cards defense will win the game. I see Big Ben having many turnovers…

Thanks for posting this, jack!

Thanks, Jack!
You know, I think Jay, you know says a couple of words a little too often. You know? But you know, I can’t think what they are right now. Sorry, I just had to. Between that and McD’s lip smacking, it’s going to be a long year of pressers to watch…
Thank God...

I agree, can we please put that b.s. to bed now?
From there, I'd like to say that the wheels came off, but that wouldn't feel like an accurate description. The wheels didn't just magically come off, the Raiders all got out of the car, shot the wheels off the own car, busted out the taillights, smashed the windshield and poured Splenda in the gas tank. Then they all piled back inside and started screaming, "CAR WON'T MOVE, ME SAD NOW!" - MJD Yahoo Sports

Not to mention the “I have more arm strength than Elway’s” comment. Really?!? Did that have to get stirred up again? Let the man have confidence in himself.
Thanks for the video!
Mile High will NEVER Die!!!
As did Cutler
He doesn’t go around beating his chest. He didn’t just up one day and claim to have a stronger arm than Elway. In that instance and in this one he simply answered a question honestly. He doesn’t go out of his way to brag but neither does he beat around the bush when asked a question. He always gives stright answers, whatever the question. He’s refreshing and enjoyable to listen to because you don’t have to wonder what he really means.

I've always felt Cutler handled it well
The people who read too much into it were idiots.
And I’ll always love the way Cutler handles himself.
Cutler on Elway
What do you expect?
Interviewer: " Jay, do you have a stronger arm than Elway?"
Jay: “No, I have a weaker arm.”

Thanks Jack!
BTW, Cutler was also on M&M this morning… I caught the very last 15 seconds of it unfortunately, but will try to find the podcast on their site… did anyone else happen to catch the interview?
Thanks jack and pshin!
Rome was better than expected and M&M were actually partially intelligent for a change.

Jim Rome is a tiny tiny man....
either that or Cutler is a huge dude.
This is my GAP, there are many like it but this one is mine. Without my GAP I am useless, without me, they will run through my GAP. I will protect my GAP and have my brothers back on his. I will not be moved from my GAP, I am a crazed dog that patrols this area and will defeat all who entire it. I own this GAP, it is mine. I bought it with blood and sweat. I will not be pushed. I will not be moved. This Sunday I will make a stand and a statement.
Cutler just said Guru's............hmmmm..........Guru.......interesting.

Wow...
I’d seen this numerous times and not noticed that until you said it, but… wow. Cutler isn’t even really that big for a football player.
Whether by design or coincidence, the other two guys Rome interviewed (Aaron Rogers and Usama Young) are both smaller than Cutler. Imagine if they’d gotten a lineman, or a linebacker… the size difference would be even more amusing.
The real reason they didn't interview Jamarcus Russell...
isn’t because Russell is uninteresting (he is) or because he sucks (he does). It’s because Rome would have spent the entire interview terrified that Russell would eat him.
Yeah, baby!!!
Thank you, Jay! Thanks, Jack, for making me eat the words from my previous post about Jay possibly sulking! I am ecstatic that THIS is the leader I want from our QB. I think he’s up front, honest, CLASSY, cordial, upbeat, energetic, confident and respectful. I am SOOOOO excited for next year. I was before, but after seeing this, I am elated. GO BRONCOS!!!!
This interview has put to rest many of the questions I had about Jay Cutler. He is mature, poised, and sincere. Great post! Thanks!!!!

Classy response post, HJ
He put a lot of Q’s to bed, didn’t he. I thought he seemed centered, looked healthy and relaxed, and yes, he doesn’t have that ya know thing, but hey – he throws a ball for a living. Incredibly well, too…

I still say
we should trade him for a dominant zero technique, two gap NT that can dominate the middle of the line. Then we trade marshall for a defensive end that can stuff the run and also bull-rush through any LT to put pressure on the QB.
We won’t get back to the SB until we start to own the LOS.

Hillis=Cowbell. You can’t have too much. styg 01/29/09
You can't seriously be suggesting that
Even if you just want to defy conventional thinking, name a dominant NT we could trade Cutler for, even if ANYONE wanted to. Look at the teams with good NTs and than look at who they have at QB. Pittsburgh has Casey Hampton (who’s 31 anyways) but they also have Roethlisberger. New England has Vince Wilfork, but they also have Brady AND Cassel. Baltimore has Haloti Ngata, but now they have Flacco. San Diego has Jamal Williams, but they have Rivers. Cleveland has Shaun Rogers, but they have Anderson and Quinn (and there are way to many questions about Rogers to consider giving up anyone of worth for him). That leaves who, exactly? Kris Jenkins of the Jets? He faded badly towards the end of last year. Jason Ferguson of the Dolphins is 34. Isaac Sopoaga of the 49’ers is average at best. Jay Ratliff of the Cowboys is good, but he’s not even 300 pounds and plays 1 gap.
Literary license?
Exaggeration is a great way to schock folks out of their own lines of thinking. I think it’s an exaggeration to say that we should dump Cutler and Marshall, but you’re right, firstfan – we’re toast until we own the D line. Yesterday showed that to anyone who looked. Nice thought.
