I wonder where he gets his “it’s probably more Stoops’ decision than the Broncos” info. He makes it sound like all he has to do is say yes and the Broncos’ search is over. I sincerely hope this is not the case, the arguments against him have been stated over and over again so I won’t list them again here.

But I will say Clayton’s credibility with me is on the line here. I get the feel he’s being sensationalistic here. I would put the Broncos’ interest in everyone as about even, with maybe Spags at the front of the class right now. But it looks like they’re just trying to cover all their bases: 2 DC’s, 2 OC’s, a college coach and 1 from in-house (Dennison).

Or so I'm told.

No college coaches. We will be doomed if we have a college coach. Either way, I will be rooting for the next coach...even if it is a college coach or Jim Fassell...NO!!

sounds like only because he has not been contacted. Sounds like coach speak before a big game. Their is no doubt he has been contacted.

Out of all the coaching candidates we have contacted (McDaniels, Spags, Morris, Garrett, and Stoops) Stoops is the last guy I would want and he is entrenched down on that list pretty good. I absolutely hate the idea of trying another college coach when it has been proven that the NFL is a different kind of beast and college coaches rarely work out.

This and all the other reports

imply to me that the Broncos haven’t even tried to contact Stoops. Here they are, running around the country, interviewing all these candidates, and they haven’t even talked to Stoops? Doesn’t sound to me as if they are very serious about him. I know Bowlen is a friend of Stoops’, but Bowlen is also a friend of Shanahan’s. Shows about how far that goes with him . . .
