From what I’m hearing, the Broncos loved New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who seems to be formulating his staff, including Dom Capers as his defensive coordinator. The Broncos will not take much more time and will make a decision in the next week.
An interesting piece of intel that Mike Lombardi is hearing about Dom Capers as DC. That would almost certainly signal a shift to a 30 front scheme.

Wow
I just read this myself…my initial reaction to McDaniels was wonderment, as defense seems the top priority. However, that doesn’t mean the new HC needs to be a D-man. This is the first time I’ve heard Dom Capers’ name in quite a while, and that is a man who knows what he’s doing.
McDaniels + Cutler = frightening times for NFL defenses
Capers + Denver D = instant credibility, an identity and then hopefully some talent to follow
I’ve had the blinders on, been thinking it was Spagnuolo or bust, but I like the sound of McDaniels/Capers…

Capers has been the Secondary coach in NE for awhile now
He’s a very good DC, historically.

I believe it was just for 2008
He was the Miami DC in 2007…

What Dom Capers knows how to do are pressure the QB and create turnovers, something we’ve been missing for awhile…

Yeah you're right...
I thought he had a DC job in 2007 and couldn’t place where it was.

No matter is hired...
If that person is one of these young “up and comers” they would need to surround themselves with solid, experienced coordinators. Dom Capors is certainly that, having alot of success as a DC.

I like this
I could definitely be a fan of this move if Bowlen goes that way. Capers is solid and McDaniels is a long-term solution that would work well for the organization.
I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

Yuck, I have never been impressed with Capers
If we can’t get Cowher, then I rather they go with a defensive minded coach, either Spags, Fraizer, or Schwartz, all of them run a 4-3 so there wouldn’t be as drastic an overhaul versus Capers or Crennel, who will only run a 3-4.

I don't mind the 3 4 if they get a top shelf NT!

Big if
If they draft Cody or Raji, maybe it works, but i agree it all starts with the NT in a 3-4 and finding a good one is hard.

Apparently Capers is not a 3-4 or bust coach, check out nybroncosfan's comment on the McDaniels scouting report

Nice
I mentioned Capers name to a friend of mine a while ago. Glad to see people haven’t forgotten what a sound defensive mind he is. Just don’t ask him to draft a franchise QB, and you’ll be cool.
