The Broncos are 5-0 and some weekly recognition keeps pouring in.  Last week, Knowshon Moreno was voted Rookie of the Week.  Moreno is nominated again this week but is joined by his Quarterback.

Kyle Orton, along with Matt Hasselback and Peyton Manning, has been nominated for the Fed Ex Air Player of the Week for Week 5.  VOTE FOR ORTON HERE

Orton completed 35 of 48 throws for 330 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception (Hail Mary attempt) in the Broncos’ 20 – 17 win over the New England Patriots. Orton drove the Broncos to the tying touchdown in the last 10 minutes of the fourth quarter and to the winning field goal on the first drive of overtime.

Orton’s two touchdown passes culminated drives that covered 98 yards (12 plays) and 90 yards (10 plays). He was 6-of-10 for 76 yards on Denver’s 98-yard touchdown drive (11-yd. TD pass to Brandon Marshall) that tied the game at 17 with 5:21 remaining.

Star-divide

In overtime, he led the Broncos 58 yards on 11 plays to set up a game-winning field goal that improved Denver’s record to 5-0 for the first time in 11 seasons.

His 35 completions tied for the third-highest single-game total in the NFL this year, and his 330 passing yards were the most by a winning AFC passer for Week 5.

Orton’s 72.9 percent completion percentage was a career high and marked the third-best single-game mark in the NFL this year (min. 45 att.).

Orton’s effort against the Patriots represented the fourth time this year he led a touchdown drive of 67 yards or more in the fourth quarter. It also marked the third time this season he led a game-winning drive (second consecutive week).

Also nominated this week is RB Knowshon Moreno, who will be looking to win the Pepsi Rookie of the Week award for the second straight week.  VOTE FOR KNOWSHON MORENO HERE

Moreno, in his first career start, rushed 21 times for 88 yards and caught 4 passes for 36 yards in the Broncos 20-17 win over the Patriots.

Congrats to both players for a great week and a great win!

Not to be a homer, but

Orton really should take this. 98 yards, all the tight spots were pass plays.

Manning is surreal, Hasselbeck is a feel-good story, but Orton’s performance is as a man among boys in this meaningless contest.

I voted for Orton 5 Times

KnoMo is probably not going to get it this week. Maclin and Collie both had better games.

The picture

I never realized that Orton’s release is so low, he’s almost side-armed in that picture. Is this his typical throwing motion?

Mechanics

It is difficult to say whether it is his typical motion. But I know for certain that his mechanics are changing for the better with McD’s coaching. Just witness the difference between preseason and last Sunday. Even factoring in the glove, he is getting better every week.

LMAO

Or to pile on: Let’s see Peyton go to the Houston Texans or Washington Redskins (both 8-8 in 2008) and throw over 70% with his eyes closed!

Oddly enough...

They don’t show Orton’s completion percentage in the blurbs about each player.

Do you think that they are....Um....I don't know......Biased?

Voting several times...

What – I only thought you could vote once – So are they discounting votes if there’s like 10000 from the same IP, I instantly wonder.

I hope Orton get it

but so far this season, Peyton should win it every week – the guy is just on a different level.
