Undefeated Means Exactly What?

    I love McDaniels' insistence that the games played prior to this point no longer signify.  5-0 is great, but it won't mean a thing if we were to lose the last 11 games of the season.  So, I'm loving his repeated statements that the most important game is the next one.  It's an infectious mantra and from what I've seen the team believes it as well.  They are also playing with an abundant confidence that they can handle any situation -- witness 90 & 98 yard drives in our last game, along with the game winning, over time drive.

    I thought with that caveat at the beginning, I'd take a quick look at the 5 undefeated teams.  The undefeateds are: Indianapolis, Denver, the New York Giants, Minnesota and New Orleans.  The first 4 are 5-0, the last one 4-0 (due to having had a bye this week).  A couple of things leapt out at me as I looked at them:

Indianapolis:
Beat Jacksonville (2-3), Miami (2-3), Arizona (2-2), Seattle (2-3), and Tennessee (0-5).
Opponents' cumulative record: 8-16 (.333)
Opponents > .500 = 0
Opponents @ .500 = 1
Opponents < .500 = 4
Divisional Placement of Opponents:
1st = 0
2nd = 1
3rd = 3
4th = 1
This is a 5-0 record based on playing lower tier teams.

New York Giants:
Beat Washington (2-3), Dallas (3-2), Tampa Bay (0-5), Kansas City (0-5) and Oakland (1-5).
Opponents' cumulative record: 6-19 (.240)
Opponents > .500 = 2
Opponents @ .500 = 0
Opponents < .500 = 3
Divisional Placement of Opponents:
1st = 0
2nd = 0
3rd = 2
4th = 3
The Cowboys have played more upper tier teams than Indianapolis, but have also played two winless teams; and, they had to take Kansas City to over time to win.

Minnesota:
Beat Cleveland (1-4), Detroit (1-4), San Francisco (3-2), Green Bay (2-2), and  St. Louis (0-5).
Opponents' cumulative record: 7-17 (.291)
Opponents > .500 = 1
Opponents @ .500 = 1
Opponents < .500 = 3
Divisional Placement of Opponents:
1st = 1
2nd = 0
3rd = 1
4th = 3
Minnesota seems to be right in the middle of the pack.  They haven't played completely consistently.

New Orleans:
Beat Detroit (1-4), Philadelphia (3-1), Buffalo (1-4), and the New York Jets (3-2).
Opponents' cumulative record: 8-11 (.421)
Opponents > .500 = 2
Opponents @ .500 = 0
Opponents < .500 = 2
Divisional Placement of Opponents:
1st = 1
2nd = 1
3rd = 0
4th = 2
The 2nd toughest schedule of the pack; and only 1 of 2 teams that has yet to play a winless opponent.

Denver:
Beat Cincinnati (4-1), Cleveland (1-4), Oakland (1-4), Dallas (3-2), and New England (3-2)
Opponents' cumulative record: 12-13 (.480)
Opponents > .500 = 3
Opponents @ .500 = 0
Opponents < .500 = 2
Divisional Placement of Opponents:
1st = 1
2nd = 1
3rd = 2
4th = 1
The toughest overall schedule among the undefeateds, and the only other team to have not played a winless opponent.

Any thoughts?
