Where is Hillis??
Just wondering if anyone knows what has happened to Peyton Hillis??? All through camp and preseason he got nothing but praise. His blocking, receiving and running were judged well above most of the backs early. He fumbled once and a block in the back and has vanished. I just can't see with the potential he has why he is getting no playing time. Did I miss something along the way? Hope someone knows the facts!!

You can find Hillis in the doghouse.
Fumbles happen, but his false start in Oakland that really hurt us in a goal to go situation does not appear to have been forgiven. He made things much worse for himself with two penalties vs Dallas which he responded to poorly after blowing up on the ref for making an obvious call.
Let’s hope he works his way back into the rotation by killing it in practice. Our short yardage running game stinks something awful.
+1
McGeorge has it in a nutshell. Hillis isn’t performing so far. I hope he does as I think he could add to the offense, but I don’t miss him since the big thing he’s be doing so far this year is losing us yards and the ball.

has him locked away in a laboratory where they are doing Horrible and Wonderful experiments of a football nature. Soon Hillis will emerge, sometime after the Bye-week better, strong, faster, and more fundamentally sound than ever before. He will break Big tackles with a single should drop, Leap tall defenders in a single bound, and run stronger (though maybe not faster) than a speeding locomotive.
Hillis will be back, his sleeves will again fly away in terror, and he will destroy all who oppose him.
Either that or McG could be right…….

Concussion
Hillis is recovering from a concussion. He’s not bad enough to be on IR but not good enough to avoid mental errors.
GR, let me ask you this question.
What were you saying at the beginning of the game when Knowshon was taking the snaps in what appeared to be a variation of the ‘wild cat’ formation? I know I was saying wth is going on, then it hit me, this young whipper-snapper is the real deal. He will use Hillis at an opportune time to exploit their oponent. He’ll be there don’t worry.
Don't worry too much about Hillis....
McDaniels knows that Hillis is a difficult back to game plan against because of his versatility. Each week, our team unrolls some new wrinkles… and then sets a team on it’s heals. This week it was Eddie and the Wild Horses formation…
This offense has many tools… and coach is being wise in not just running out and unveiling them all at once. When the time is right, he will roll out the Hillis…

Hillis's mistake burned a timeout in the first half
One of the only times I saw Hillis in the game was at the end of the first quarter, he lined up in the middle of the field, then motioned to the right and then motioned back wide left. He obviously screwed up on the play because the Broncos had to call a time out.
I wonder if perhaps the playbook is too complex for the rumblin’ redneck?

Your Kiszla Post
Pierre, you posted receiving a reply from Kiszla yesterday. It was taken down before I could read it. What happened?
john bena happened
he removed it! i was warned and told that he was dealing with it himself. in the letter kiszla said that, frequent poster broncobear is the one who made him aware of the anti-Orton fanposts. its all very weird.
since i doubt that the guru is going to reread this fanpost i will just show you the letter kiszla sent me:
Chance: The name is Mark. No biggie. But it does prove one thing. You have difficulty getting your facts straight sometimes. How did I bash milehighreport? I wrote not one bad word about the site. I reported a comment on the site. I have nothing bad to say about the site. The fact there have been many negative comments about Orton, including many on milehighreport, was pointed out to me by a staff writer from milehighreport. His handle on the site is broncobear. I like blogs. And don’t view this as an us vs. them situation. If you do, well, more power to you. All the best, Mark Kiszla

Actually
what happened was, he lined up on the right side in the slot. Orton told him he was in the wrong position and directed him to the left side where he lined up outside the X receiver (I didn’t pay attention to who that was). He was still out of position, and by that time Orton had no choice but to call Time out. Hillis got yanked, and was never in the game after that. I didn’t see it, but I expect he got an earful from at least one coach. McDaniels being the smart cookie he is, promptly sent in a formation that left NE without enough DB’s to handle the situation, which forced Belichick to use a Time out of his own. Talk about leveling the playing field.
I was sitting in the End Zone and watched the whole thing unfold. I even narrated it to the nice lady sitting next to me.

Concussion
The TD in the Dallas game did him in you could see he was confused after taking the hit in the endzone. Making too many mental errors they need to rest him for several games and then have him ready for the second half of the season. I think Broncos are just waiting for Spencer Larsen to return after the bye week. Just a thought whats going to happen. Hillis needs time away from the game he’s walking on egg shells.

My opinion.
Hillis made some mistakes, but the concussion is a factor. Also, Buckhalter and Moreno are doing a solid job, and we still have Lamont Jordon. No need to rush Hillis back in.
If Hillis is safe to go (head injury), and if there is a need beyond Buckhalter and Moreno, Hillis will be back. He won’t be kept in a doghouse to prove a point; not as good as he is. My thinking is that this is more about injury and good depth, and less about his mistakes. Remember, Moreno has fumbled too.
