Trade Deadline

With the NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching, does anyone see the Broncos making any moves?  I'm sure we all agree that there don't seem to be many holes, but still.  Has anyone heard any rumors and if so what moves might be likely?  Although it may be tough to pull off, wouldn't it be great to get a high impact return specialist to juice up the return game and to keep Eddie out of harms way?

we are probably one of the few teams who have not made one transaction since the start of the season

I don't see us making a move.

I think we stand pat.

+1

I keep thinking we should improve, but there isn’t a move we can make that would actually be an improvement…new guys have to learn the system, get integrated into the team and we have NO glaring weaknesses. A returner would be nice, but there isn’t a good one out there to be had.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I am a big fan of that idea. It’s not like he’s doing anything in buffalo anyways.

The biggest problem is that we need blockers for him if we did get him. The problem isn’t necessarily the returner. The problem is that when the returner (McKinley/Royal) get the ball, they are immediately met by 2 or 3 defenders. So, their first move is usually left or right to evade the tackler. Ideally, we could get some blockers and have our returners go downhill first.

So, I like the idea, but the blocking still needs to improve.

Agreed.

It’s one of those if there was someone available… but I think McKinley should get some more reps. He could surprise.

DD, do you know if Kenny McKinley returned kick offs or punts at South Carolina?

It takes long enough to learn these systems. Why add someone who’ll be behind the 8-ball?

Plus, we will get Larsen back after the bye, and the rookies (and second year dudes) will improve with coaching. I think the best improvements to the team will come from inside the house.

That being said, firesales are happening with KC and Oakburgh. The AFC West is about to get even weaker.

We should trade for T.O.

All you get from drafting the "best player available" is a team full of good football players.

Cotton McKnight: I'm being told that Average Joe's does not have enough players and will be forfeiting the championship match.
Pepper Brooks: It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em.

?????????

Don’t we already have a very deep group of WRs???

Plus, that is a LOT of money to pay a guy that we don’t really have a pressing need for.

Geez. It was a joke.

Trading for him would make about as much sense as tanking a season for better draft position. I’d rather take an ass whupping than have his dumbass on our team.

Honestly

if we could get T.O. and McD Could Marshalize™ him our receiving core would be AMAZING!!!! TWO giant great receivers? though I think Marsh is better. But in all honesty we don’t need him, and would have to trade someone I’d rather have here to get him so it doesn’t make much sense.

TO is a cancer that you don't want.

This Locker Room is gelling because players have committed to playing together as a team. TO has never been able to embrace that concept. He would be a train wreck waiting to happen… as Buffalo is finding out.

They should name a cancer after him!!!!!!!!!

Then he would ACTUALLY be a cancer.

I think I like Gaffney more than TO anyway, not to mention……..oh you know them all.

I think they should look into

Gribbs from cleveland. If they dont want much for him, look they just gave Edwards away to the jets. He would improve our ST and we wouldnt have to worry about Eddie getting hurt

Parrish

I saw somewhere (can’t remember where exactly) that Roscoe Parrish might be available. Our return teams have been underwhelming, and he’d be an improvement. The price would have to be low, obviously, but the Bills are in meltdown and might be willing to move him for a very low pick.

by hudayberdi on Oct 15, 2009 1:43 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

I agree with kentuckybronco that the issues in the return game seems to be more about blocking than the return man. That said, if they were to bring someone in from a team dumping at the deadline, it may be a catalyst to focus on this area and keep Eddie safe at the same time.
