I cant say that I am. I think they’ve had tools over there for years. They’re a good football team. The last few years we got a chance to play them. (They’ve) probably had games that they should’ve won in the past against other people that they haven’t won. I think they’re just having a fast start. We know exactly what we’re facing coming up this week and we’re going to bring our A game. Period."

there you go Merri-roid.
Play it down like you always do, dummy.
I think they’re just having a fast start
That’s what it is. A fast start. A fast start that’s going to steamroll over you and your ugly mohawk on Monday night.

I would to see what he thinks his 'A' game is..
.. against our new team.. and see how we fare.. so far we have been up to every challenge!
Having said that.. “We know exactly what we’re facing coming up this week” ..i don’t think him or the chargers.. team.. coaches.. or even the cheerleaders.. have a clue as to what they will be facing this week..
I know one thing.. we are not the same team that they played last year.. and if they haven’t realised that yet.. it will be a long day for them just as it was for Oakland!

A is for making A tackle
A is for getting A sack
Both of which have largely eluded him for the last two years..
2009 – 3 Solo Tackles, 5 Assists, ZERO Sacks.
2008 – 1 Solo Tackle, 1 Assist, Zero Sacks.

Why haven't they brought out the A game already?
oh, maybe they have :)

Don't get too cocky folks
Make no mistake – these guys are a dangerous team and have a tradition at this point of starting slowly. It will take a first class effort by the Broncos, going into enemy territory to play a team with their backs against the wall, who’ve had their manhood challenged by their own GM, who entered the season with very high expectations and with enough veterans on that team to have a ton of collective pride. There’s enough film from this year now that other teams will know what to expect – at least somewhat. I expect a real dogfight.

We can get as cocky as we want
It won’t affect the team at all. If we lose, we just have to eat a bit of crow. No offense.

Point well taken
and I never take offense on this site. I was just trying to point out (and perhaps not too elegantly) that I think we’ll both need to weather the storm (as Bill Walsh was always preaching) and continue playing at or above what we’ve seen to date. Thanks for the feedback!

You do know what has happened to their D-Line right?
And you must also know that their O-Line is nothing like ours in terms of pass protection and run blocking?
To me they look very similar to how we looked last year.. High powered Offense with a highly suspect Defense.. If our Offense plays like we did last game.. in the air.. AND has it’s way with the Chargers D-line in the running game (most other teams have so far) then we will be putting up plenty of points on them..
I also want to remind you that our secondary is AWESOME and not many deep passes have been successful against us, AND we will pressure Rivers pretty much all game because his line is weak and i think we can limit the points they can put up..
The only area that truly scares me is Sproles in the return game.. but we managed to stop Cribbs pretty effectively.. Also the Rivers – Jackson scares me a little but I hope our secondary brings it’s A game which it has pretty much most games so far!
Anyway I digress, you are right any given Sunday any team can win if they play as a team and have a little bit of luck on their side.. but my point is that so far this season that has been us and not them and i just don’t see that changing this game.. If they play better than us I will take my hat of to them and respect them more in our next contest.. But in my mind for that to happen there would have to be quite a large element of us beating ourselves.. and again that is something that our team trains hard to prevent.

Agreed
I’m well aware of their current “challenges” on both lines, particularly defense. And I don’t think anybody’s really tested our secondary deep so far this season. I do expect we’ll win IF we keep playing at least as well as we have thus far. But it’s always harder on the road and I expect the Chargers to play their best game of the year. I’m looking forward to it! Thanks for your response.

Definetly going to be a fun Monday night game..
.. Just read a little exert from Josh’s daily press conf on the Post..
“We’ve talked about, we don’t want to be that team that they get it going against,” McDaniels said.
Also looks like Josh is a little worried about Sproles as well, “Sproles is quicker. Maybe more explosive. When he gets the ball in his hands as a return man it’s like somebody handed it to him in the backfield. He starts to run with it and as soon as he sees the crease, he hits it, just like a tailback. Very tough to tackle. Harder to find. Sproles is harder to find than Cribbs is. Cribbs you can see wherever he is because he’s a different type of athlete, more size and all that. Sproles once he gets behind a couple blockers, you’ve got to do a good job of breaking it down and finding him first. And he’s a different challenge in terms of tackling.”
I definitely don’t think we will be unprepared, and i think we have the talent and the team mentality to beat them… 6-0 has a very nice ring to it don’t ya think??
Go Broncos!

So this is what LT meant by "quiet confidence"?
lmao, these guys are tools. Bring your A game dolts, you’ll still lose by 20.

All I've heard out of our players is 'humility' and 'humbleness'!
If Merriman has to reenforce his stature as some great defensive player, then so be it, bring your “A” game so everyone in the world will know how much of you is mouth and how much of you is “A” great player. I have my hunches Shawne, so bring it!

I"m actually really excited
SD has a tendency to start slow offensively and turn things up in the 2nd half.
The last two games are defense has done the same we allowed Dallas and NE to score early and then shut them down in the second half.
So if SD can’t score in the first half and our defense won’t let them score in the second half…

SD will flip flop this week...they will start out fast, we will adjust and hound them all night long....

By the way, who came up with that allusion anyways?

We've been talking about SD's window of opportunity.
They’ve been very good for the last several of years, a very talented team. Many have picked them to go to the Superbowl year after year. But they haven’t made a whole lot of changes concerning personnel. They are beginning to show some signs of age and may be getting near the end of their window of opportunity for many of these players.
It doesn’t necessarily mean they’re done but the clock is ticking.
If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!
