Guru and Friends Predict....Week 6 in the NFL
John and various members of the staff here are once again competing in the annual MHR Pick'em challenge. You will notice the Denver Broncos game is not included. We'll just say everyone roots for the Broncos each week! Guru's wife is a Patriots fan, so her pick will be of the Broncos game. Just so homerism doesn't affect the outcome again this year.

Denver in the NE v TEN game
Now that is an intriguing pick by Gurus wife
One thing I know for sure - I'm usually wrong.
Go Melbourne Storm
Go Collingwood

I go with the majority except two
I’m not giving up on Kubiak, Houston will make Cincy look foolish. (The gut feeling of a fool)
Cutler will ‘Cut’ Atlanta’s secondary into litty bittle pieces. (still wish he was on our team).

Why are they not in the Hall...I just don't understand.
sorry mike......
I want the Bears to lose every week so we have a better draft pick next year.

Jerry Jones is Al Davis with a smile!
That just costs us more money
I’d like to see Cutler succeed

it's only one pick at least

Don't forget we can trade a high pick for more picks.

I had a hard time picking between CHI and ATL
I’m surprised that everyone ended up taking ATL.

One of the toughest calls this week, along with Minnesota?Ravens and New Orleans/Giants. Bears played at Atlanta last year (also in Week Six) and the final acore after each team scored a TD in the final thirty seconds) was Atlanta 22, Bears 20.
IT is, and it's impossible for IT not to be.

I let emotions get in the way here
back when Denver always lost, I used to follow Chicago as an alternative, I loved the way Butkus played.
I occasionally post over at Wind City.

Yeah, I wish Cutler was still here too
I hate being 5-0.
The oddest argument I have heard
is that because we are doing so well we need Cutler because then we’d be Super Bowl contenders. This shows to me that you can use any rationalization to defend an emotional response, even contradictory ones.
I respect Cutler’s ability (and he even seems to have matured since he started playing in Chicago, either from the experience of the off-season or just time). However I don’t think he is the obsessed-with-details, uber-coachable, studies-playbook-every-waking hour-type like Orton. I think that Orton will dramatically improve throughout the season.

JeffG did not make the comment I was referencing.
Only of the silly anti-Bronco MSM types said it, JeffG’s tongue-in-cheek comment just reminded me of it.

Houston did just that last year (also in October) whupping the Bengals 35-6. But this is a better Bengals team.

I will never wish that Cutler was still on the team...
I enjoyed watching him but I am character over talent MC….for better or worse….and I am with MDierk….Chicago needs to lose to help us.

Oh well, I like Chicago
I’ve made too many friends at Chicago’s SB site Wind City to vote against them.
I’ll take emotion over common sense in this case.

Cutler lost the game for Chicago last night....ouch!
It was a familiar sight…just glad it wasn’t my Broncos this time.

Okay, my picks:
Cincinnati over Houston, Ravens over Vikes, NO over NYG, Panthers over Bucs, Chiefs over Skins, Steelers over Browns, Packers over Lions, Jags over Rams, Philly over Losers, Seahawks over Cardinals, New England over Tennessee, Jets over Buffalo, and Atlanta over Chicago.

Frankly...
…despite the “homerism” concept, I’d rather the staff pick the DEN games, and let Guru’s wife pick the NE games. I didn’t pick Denver every game last year, and I’m not sure if any of us did.
So far this year, I’ve felt good about Denver in each game (was a little worried about NE, and called it “too close to call” in my CHalk Talk that week. Sure enough, a win in over-time)

That's true.
I’m all for it. I definitely trust you all to pick accurately. You all want to be right and you will all pick the team you think will win. I am with you. If we put it to a vote, I would vote for picking all the games including the Broncos games (that goes with Mrs. Guru’s patriots, as well).

John’s got his staff on the verge of a revolt with this. lol ;-)

Another problem...
…It makes it look like those ESPN guys are picking more winners than we do, when we miss a pick each week. I should have 5 more correct picks at this point (along with, I imagine, all the rest of the staff so far).

I'm watching the Florida Arkansas game right now
The ‘Powers that be’ want Florida to win, I do not. Really bad ref calls. Favor Florida evry time.

I got to attend the Air Force/ Wyoming game today
Wyoming runs a spread offense. I wouldn’t have been able to tell you that last year, i.e., before I was a member of this community.

Upset specials
Kubiac’s Texans will pull off an upset of Cincinnati and Detroit will upset Green Bay. We are getting to that time of year where there is a weekend of upsets.
Denver is particularly vulnerable to a let down but the bye week may be well timed to recharge before the Ravens and Pittsburgh. We win against San Diego and there is a GOOD chance we can win both games after the bye. Can you say 8 and 0?!!!!!!!

Good call, except for Detroit over GB. Oakland over the Eagles? Wow.

Shocked? At least surprised.
No one thinks KC will beat the Redskins? Redskins have given Carolina and Detroit their only wins and looked bad in the other games, KC has been somewhat competetive in all of their games at least in the first half.
I took KC
I also took Baltimore (gut feeling) and NYG (also a gut feeling). Lot of tough calls this week. Went 13-14 last week (thanks, Ravens!) — and still was outpicked by one dude. Who takes Cincy, Miami, AND Cleveland…?
Well, I personally picked all three of those.
I went 12/14 last week straight up (the 2 I missed were blowouts though, missed on Arizona and Jacksonville) and 9/14 against the spread (lost on tiebreaker for the week lead). I also went 12/14 the week before so I’m pretty happy. Things got a lot better after the first few weeks where i kept picking more from last year (ex. i picked Tennessee first 3 weeks).
I actually botched the two games so bad
I can’t even refer to them properly. It mispicked Seatle/Jacksonville and Atlanta/San Francisco.
My gut feelings?
Shouldn’t have listened to them.
That was a tough call for me too.
